The overt curriculum is the open, or public, dimension and includes current

and historical interpretations, learning experiences, and learning outcomes.

Openly discussed, consciously planned, usually written down, presented through

the instructional process. Textbooks, learning kits, lesson plans, school plays etc.

Provides students with science, history, math, literature and knowledge that

society wants them to have beyond the academics.

Learner-Centered Curriculum encourages and tracks students through their

educational passions and journeys so that they obtain their information

frameworks rather than only becoming carriers of a standardized equivalent

knowledge base that is offered to all students.

LESSON PLAN: English (Identifying the tone, mood, technique, and purpose of the

author using Children’s story)

LEARNING AIMS & OBJECTIVES

1. Students will be able to determine the tone, mood, technique, and purpose

of the author in the children’s story introduced by their teacher.

2. Students will be able to explain and develop their own thoughts about the

tone, mood, technique, and purpose of the author based on their chosen

children’s story.

3. Students will be able to appreciate the topic of the lesson and its value.

MATERIALS & RESOURCES:

Workbooks/Piece of Paper/Textbooks/Story Books

STARTER:

 The teacher will make a brief discussion and test the prior knowledge of the

students about the topic of the lesson. After introducing it, the teacher will

tell the story about the “Total Recall: Take a Chance”.

TASKS:

 Students will find a children’s story based on the materials and resources

provided by the teacher.

 They will identify its tone, mood, technique, and purpose of the author.

 They will write it in a ½ crosswise paper and will explain it in front of the class.

PLENARY/LINKS TO NEXT LESSON:

 Students will do an evaluation about the lesson and to their activity. Next

meeting, they will start writing their own children’s story and identify the

tone, mood, technique, and purpose of the author.

Title: Total Recall: Take a Chance

Elton Ray Boldrene is a successful CEO of the ER Group of Companies. He

owned many malls, companies, factories, you name it, and he has all of it. He’s
really fame to everyone and to anybody. But one day, he realize something.
When he is celebrating his 30th birthday, he is looking to his guests in the terrace
and he said something to himself.
“This is really by far the greatest day of my life! My family, friends, relatives,
and co-workers were all here to celebrate my 30th birthday. But, I’m missing
something, I’m missing someone, I wish that I could see her again and save her, I
wish I could go back in time and see her once again and be brave enough to tell
her that I love her… so much”, he said to himself while drinking a glass of
champagne.
Everything went well and great, they’re all having a good time. Everybody
left and Elton was left alone, then he found something lying on the floor, it was a
piece of paper saying, “It’ll happen”, he just nod and said.
“I hope that it’ll happen and it’s still my birthday, so maybe…”, he said while
laughing after reading it.
He went to bed, pray to the Lord for a really great day and happiness, and
he go to sleep. Then suddenly, the note that he picked up, sparks like a diamond
and it happen at 11:11 pm.
Next day, it was a fine sunny morning, he woke up, and do his daily routine.
Then, when he became conscious to his surroundings, he found out something.
“Wait, this is my… house. My house when I was an elementary student”, he
shockingly said.

He went downstairs and see his parents, particular his mother, he was very
happy when he saw his mother again.
“Mom, I’m so glad, you’re here!”, he said while hugging his mother.
“Hey, Elton, I’d just read you a bedtime story last night, what’s wrong?”, his
mother said while slightly laughing.
“Nothing mom, I’m just glad you’re here.”, he said.
“Okay, eat your breakfast son!”, his mother said.
After Elton ate his breakfast, he put his uniform on and go to the school bus.
While he was on a trip to school, he grab his bag to look for something, then he
found the same paper that he took last time before he went to sleep but it
changed to another note. Now, it says, “Do exactly what you did here, don’t
screw your present and future and save her and find her again”. He realized now
that there was a purpose why he was back to the past, he need to do the right
thing.
He did exactly what he did from elementary ‘til Junior High School, he
graduated Valedictorian with many awards and accolades. Then here comes
the tragedy, his mother slipped to their stairs, her head is bump in the floor.
His mistake during the first time was he didn’t arrive early, he came to his
friend’s birthday party, and so, her mother died that time. Now, he is given a
chance to do the right thing and he knew that this is the day that it’ll happen, so,
he rush to their house and immediately bring his mother to the nearest hospital,
he saved her.
“Woah! Thank you Lord, for giving me another chance to save my mother!”,
he said while praying in the chapel of the hospital.
His mother recovered after two months, then she was able to attend his
son’s Senior High School ceremony where he also graduated Valedictorian to
their school. Elton was really glad that his mother was able to saw his success.
College came, and he knew that this is it.
“Oh my God! This is the day, that I’ll meet the one that got away”, he said
while looking around in the campus.
Thalia, a god-centered girl, who is very simple, smart, optimistic, parent-
oriented and really beautiful was Elton’s girl that got away. For him, that his
perspective about her but for everyone, she was known as a mean, selfish, and a
little bitch girl and sometimes an attitude type of girl, so in short, the people there
are judgmental.

He met her again but as usual, back to awkwardness, because Elton really
liked Thalia. Then he said to himself,
“Be brave, Elton, remember! You’re here to make it happen”, he said while
whispering to himself. Then he approach her.
“Hi, I’m Elton!”, he said while smiling.
“Hello!”, Thalia said while reading some book.
“What’s your course?”, Elton said.
She finally look at him, “BS Business Administration Major in Financial
Management”.
“Wow, that’s great!, we’re in the same block and course.” Elton said
awkwardly.
“Great!....”Thalia said sarcastically.
Elton left her waving and saying goodbye but Thalia didn’t wave back at
him, he knew that it’ll happen. Yes, it was very awkward but he knew that they
will become friends in the next couple years and started a mutual relationship.
Then, this happened, during the first time, he was about to leave the country to
be with his family because all of them was there already so he need to be there.
He didn’t say anything to Thalia and he didn’t say goodbye either so they broke
up and Elton became single throughout his entire life.
So, when his mother told him that he’ll leave the country next month, he
immediately told Thalia that he was about to go overseas.
“Thalia, ahmm, I was about to leave the country, and I want you to be the
first person to know about this.”, he said while crying.
“Oh, that’s fine, I’ll be fine here don’t worry, I’ll support your decisions no
matter what and I’ll be always there for you, okay?”, she said while cheering Elton.
Elton was really glad that everything worked out for them, their long-
distance relationship worked and when he came back to country he propose to
Thalia.
In the next 10 years, he successfully made the exact scenarios on what
happened in his life but there are some changes, he saved his mother and he
married the girl of his dreams and able to build his business, the ER Group of
Companies.
His 30th birthday came, standing in the exact position in the terrace. He said,
“I made it! Thank you Lord for granting the greatest wishes of my life!”, he
said happily.

Then, after he said it, he saw once again the piece of paper. Now, it says,
“Enjoy and be glad, and be with the greatest people of your life, be with them,
cherish every moment and don’t make any decisions that will end up as a regret,
do what’s best for you!”. After reading it, it sparks like a diamond and flew up in
the sky.
His wife came, she hugged & kissed him. His mother saw them and she
wave at Elton and says, I love you son!

LESSON: Be with them, cherish every moment and when they still here, tell them
how you really love them, because if they died, you can’t say it anymore.
