Case Study

For this case study I will be looking into Billie Eilish. Billie is currently 20
years old, her full name is Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell and is American.
She was born in Los Angeles, California in the Highland Park Neighborhood.

In 2015, when Billie was 13 she began to write songs with her brother
Finneas, Finneas had been producing and writing songs for years before as
he had his own band. On the 18th of November 2015, Billie released her song
“Ocean Eyes” which was produced by Finneas, and the song blew up within
weeks.

I first discovered Billie and her music a few years ago and it was her song
“Copycat” that I originally listened to and from there, I was obsessed with
her music. “Copycat” was released in 2017 from her album “Don’t Smile At
Me”. From then on, her voice and lyrics inspired me.

Billie is such a huge inspiration to me because her lyrics really stand out to
me. I’m the type of person to listen to the words in a song and look for a
deeper meaning in the lyrics. It may not be obvious to begin with but once
I’ve listened to a song a few times, some lyrics will really stand out to me.
She’s not long come out with an album called “Happier Than Ever” and I’ve
been obsessed with it since it came out. In the music videos that have come
out for some of the songs on the album, you’ll notice there's a black screen
for 22 seconds and it’s pure silence, because it’s related to her ex who was
22. The songs on this album have such a deep meaning to them and for me,
they resonate with me.
