Overview
Why did I pick this trailer? The reason why I chose this trailer is because it is a part of my whole investigation, my
whole investigation is based about Wes Anderson and his hit movies. Another reason I chose this trailer is because I
take inspiration from it, the colour palettes, the symmetry and the genre.

What were the reviews? The reviews were good, and I feel like this can help me a lot. The majotity of the reviews
liked that it was comedy and adventure and a couple of them liked the colours and the fact that it's a murder
mystery. They liked the trailer, however some said they found it a little boring. They would improve by having more
character interaction and the aspect ratio. Things they expected was comedy like a funny cast and very iconic Wes
Anderson conventions.

How will this help later? These reviews would help because now I have more of an understanding of what an
audience would and wouldn't like. I did a survey too, I asked relevent questions about my specific genre. I asked why
the like or don’t like adventure/comedy and the majority said they like the escapism that comes with watching this
genre of films. However, some don’t like it because they seem to be aimed at children and just not a personal
favourite. So, for my work I will hopefully make it feel like you can escape the real world into a fantasy one. It helps
me also identify my target audience.

Codes and conventions that were spotted was that it's a murder mystery comedy and adventure trailer. Some also
like the colours, this is very standard for a Wes Anderson film.

How does this link to my investigation? This all links together because it's all under the director I'm inspired by the
director and how I want to structure my work. This will reinforce my work but will also help me improve and
identify more codes and conventions while investigating Wes Anderson films.
Survey Feedback (Age)
In my survey they were asked for
their ages and the majority were 17,
this will help me work for that
target audience for future.
Survey Review (Gender)
In my survey the majority that
like adventure and comedy are
males.
Survey Review (Genre)
The majority of people who answered
this survey said they do like my genre
but some don't.
Survey Review ( Why?)
I then asked why the liked or didn't
like this genre and there were a mix
of responses. Some said they like the
escapism and entering a new world
that they're unable to explore. Some
on the other hand aren't a fan of this
genre and wouldn't choose it.
Survey Reviews (What is adventure?)
I asked what they think adventure is to
them and they all pretty much said that
it was escaping. Escaping to a whole
new place, seeing new people, exploring
places without actually being there.
Somewhere unfamiliar yet exciting.
However, some don’t like this genre as it
can be boring.
Survey Review (Why?)
This question links to the previous
question. They answered that the
escapism is one of their favourite
elements of an adventure film and most
of the films they like. Someone also said
they are predictable especially the
storyline of them.
Survey Reviews (What do you expect?)
They explained what you get from this
film genre and they said that it can get
quite cheesy, a good storyline, bad jokes
but they're funny and a laugh.
Survey Review (Sub-genres)
I asked what sub-genres they like and
there is quite a range of responses.
There is quite a lot to work with from
this question.
Survey Review (Dislikes)
This question is what they don’t like
about my genre. There was a range of
answers, some said they don't like it
because it's repetitive or boring. One
said that the jokes within this genre can
be very subjective. Whereas some just
said they don't have an answer because
they like the genre.
Survey Reviews (Where do you watch films?)
I asked them where they watch the
majority of their films and a large
portion of them said they watch them on
Netflix.
Survey Reviews (First poster)

In my survey I included
my poster that I made and
asked them how I could
improve my work. I received
many helpful comments
which will help me improve
my work.
Survey Reviews (Second poster)

I then included my second poster

and asked how I could improve
this one, once again got some
helpful answers to help me in the
future.
Survey Reviews (Codes and Conventions)
After seeing my posters and asking how
I could improve them, I asked if they
could see and codes and conventions
from the posters and the majority said
yes, the main character in the middle
and the scenery in both posters.
Survey Reviews (USP)
I asked what they think the USP is
from seeing my two posters, they did
say that it’s the title or subheading, or
the main character so clearly in the
middle. Others though weren't too
sure.
Survey Reviews (Target audience)
This is the final question on my survey,
its about what they think the target
audience would be based on my posters
I presented. Nearly everyone said
teenagers and kids but one response
was very helpful, saying it’s the type of
film anyone can see and enjoy.
