Cinematography - These are techniques like the overall composition of a stage, illumination of the assembly or site,

a selection of cameras, lenses, filters and film stock, the angle and motion of the camera and integrating any
special effect.

3 Types of Cinematography effects

CUTTING – Sometimes called as editing consists of joining the shot to another shot.

(Additional notes – By using the technique of cutting it can give more quality to the movies or short videos for
watchers. It also gives more slots to the scenes needed in a movie.)

Transition devices for cutting:

(Additional note do not present - Transition devices are used to give an presentable exit and entrance for new
clips.)

A. FADE – Using a blank clip (black colored) to indicate a change of time and place in a film.
B. DISSLOVE – A technique in editing that is used to transition between to clips or shots in a film.
C. IRIS-IN, IRIS-OUT (Iris Effect) – A technique to reveal an image or clip like a blink of an eye. This is usually
used in early days of cinematography to catch the viewers attention.
D. TURNOVER – Shows the whole screen turning over continuing to the other slide.

CAMERA MOVEMENTS – Camera movements help viewers experience the gradual growth of ideas or emotions.

(Additional note do not present – In simple explanation these movements is very effective in giving the viewer the
energy in each scenes. Movements can be in any direction depending on the scene.)

FRAMING – It brings about balance and unity and can provide highly dramatic effects that can capture and hold
viewers’ attention.

(Additional note do not present – In framing there’s a specific needs like the relationship shown in a scene, balance
of elements in right and left view and the size of subject presented.)

FOUR AESTHETIC FACTORS:

DENOMINATION OF SPACE – In viewing a film, space becomes dynamic, not static. Spatial distance between
viewers and the movie varies.

SPECIALIZATION OF TIME – In viewing a movie, time is place in space. The passage of time is recorded on films and
thus, can be repeated.

(Additional note do not present – Time can hours, days, months and years. Even the time is in fast forward as long
as in it arrange properly the story will continue to catch the viewers’ attention.)

CLOSE-UP – Is an aesthetic way of presenting the whole face of an actor/actress simply to catch the viewers’
attention and show more emotion in a film.

SIGNIFICANCE – An art where the viewers’ can catch the emotion in every single scene in a movie.

(Visually presented with good decisions of the director for keeping the right angle and lighting. So the viewers’ can
easily understand the scenarios, but this can be used to promote pornography or any violence.)
