Q1- Share what you found most interesting in the presentation?

In this session, there is so much interesting learning to take away. However, I would like to talk
about a few key points highlighted during the presentation. Firstly, it’s very interesting to know
that company is highly focused on its customers and understanding their requirements, and
then provide the best solutions for mutual benefits. Another, fact which is interesting is their
adoption of technology to serve better from distribution centers to satellite communication of
trucks, temperature monitoring, tracking of trucks, their intermodal systems, temperature
control high tech distribution centers. Safety is something which I would consider as another
interesting factor and the way company keeps this on high priority. A dedicated safety team,
monitoring drivers’ routes and performance, and training on Driving simulation is something
sounds promising for customers. To fulfill any requirement of their customer, Tranx has a
great network across the country as well as in the USA. Covering from Mississauga to
Vancouver and Chicago with 12 high-tech terminals with Consolidation Centers, Multimodal
Solutions, Temperature Control with supported by logistic services like LTL, TL, RAIL, REFER,
Brokerage makes them the strongest player in logistic solution provider in the country. Lastly,
the company’s focus on sustainability is high wherein Modern Aerodynamic tractors, long
combination vehicles, Speed limiters, Speed reduction tech., and other features are provided
for safe and sustainable business.

Another point, the roadmap to be successfully completing this program, and what are the
important steps to achieve a job in the Supply chain market gave me good insight into the real
industry scenarios and expectations.

Q2-How were the topics related to the lessons you have already learned in the program?

In the presentation, almost everything we covered was learned in the Distribution 1 modules.
The session gave us a more realistic perspective on the logistics and warehousing processes.
The topics such as distribution centers and warehouses, modes of transportation, and function
of distribution centers were available in the presentation and were relatable to our learnings.
The session also talked about the technology now being used to measure performance when it
comes to the trucking industry. The competitive trucking industry, smaller margins, and new
entrants are other key aspects we have learned in the program and were highlighted in the
session.

Terms such as cross-docking, refrigerated containers, trailers, fleet, TL, and LTL, inter-modal
operations were familiar words that we have earlier discussed in class. Safety measures where
training and use of technology being utilized have been discussed, however, the simulation
training provided by the company was something new in the session.

The tool such as TMW LTL, TMW TL, CN-one, and their use in the industry was something new
and interesting about this session. In the class, we have also discussed containerization and
various type of container which was shown in the presentation was extremely relatable.
Discussion on TransX and its services had helped us in clarifying the facts of truck
transportation and its actual application in the industry.
