Workshop 2: Outsourcing and the Challenge to build Sustainable Contract Logistics Relationships
Limited seats available. Sign up soon. Closing date: 15 March 2011

Introduction Supply Chain Management is about the idea of finding new potentials for improving customer value and by
looking beyond the boundaries of ones own business. As a consequence, the questions of where certain activities should be placed in a multi-echelon network of supply chain partners, and how the interfaces and transitions between those partners should be designed and operated, are becoming most critical for success. This is why systematic outsourcing of non-core logistical and other value added activities is pursued as a path to increase efficiency, flexibility, and ultimately to value add to business. Rapidly rising demand for intelligently designed contract logistics solutions by the logistics service provider industry is just the flip side of the same development. This programme informs participants about the latest research findings and best practices in outsourcing - where and when to consider it, and what the risks and cost are. It provides a systematic walk-through the stages of an outsourcing process and the consecutive design and implementation of a sustainable contract logistics relationship, covering the demands and interest of both the outsourcer and the logistics service provider in a balanced way. Participants will be able to more rationally and creatively assess the strategic opportunities and risks and learn about the practical steps for successfully going through an outsourcing and contract logistics solution process.
