Course Description: The course has been designed to familiarize BS Accounting and Finance
students with business English, which is taught as part of ESP (English for Specific Purposes) at
global level. The course has been structured in such a way as to cover the mechanics of
speaking, listening, reading, and writing in business contexts. The course discusses grammar in
business context, along with emphasis on speaking and writing accurately. In short, the contents
of the course revolve around promoting the soft skills of students for organizational life.

Students Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the course students will be able to


 Enrich business English vocabulary
 Learn English grammar
 Speak and write correctly ( especially on business topics)
 Read and listen effectively and productively
 Develop soft skills

Teaching Methodology
An interactive methodology will be adopted for maximum output. After giving a talk on a topic,
students will be engaged in individual/group activities for learning the contents of the input.
Students will also be asked to write a short paragraph on “What I Learned Today” before class
time is over. The focus will be on enabling students for using English as effectively as possible.

Assessment
Besides the Mid Term and Final Exam, each class will begin with questions regarding the
contents of the previous lecture. Moreover, my methodology has been to give homework every
week, which keeps students fresh and updated.
