1. ENGINEER LIBRARY AND FILING SYSTEM


All company recordings kept in folders in Engine Control Room. They are maintained up to date, only new
company filing system for easy handling and recording.

2. SHIP’S PLAN, DRAWINGS AND MACHINERY OPERATING MANUALS


One set of Manuals and drawings and some Instruction Manuals are available in Engine Control Room &
Computer (sister ship).

2 MACHINERY CONDITION

1. WATER IN OIL DETECTOR.


Water in oil detector was implemented in October 2020, was tested and well working.

2. OIL MIST DETECTOR


OMD in good working condition, maintenance in accordance with maker requirements and maintenance
plan.

3. AIR COMPRESSORS
Two Main air compressors run without difficulties. They are maintained as per makers’ instruction and
planed job schedule. Oil level should be monitored daily (add oil until the middle of sight glass)
4. PUMPS

General note for all Pumps: Monthly changeover of all Pumps required.
ME Lube Oil Priming Pump– operate normally.
Jacket Cooling FW Pumps: # 1; #2 - operate normally
ME Jacket Water Pre-Heating Pump – operates normally.
Low Temperature Central Cooling FW Pumps # 1 & # 2 – operate normally.
ME FO Supply Pump #1& # 2 – operate normally.
ME FO Circulating Pumps # 1 & # 2 – operate normally.
ME FO Viscosity Control Unit - adjusting by manually, automatic work not properly.
Cooling SW pumps # 1; #2 operate normally. Harbor pump not in order
Ballast Pump #1– operate normally. ; #2 is not in working conditions
Fire and General Service Pump #1 & Fire Pump #2 – operate normally.
Sludge Pump – operates normally.
Sanitary Water Pumps # 1 & # 2 – operate normally.
Circulating Hot water Pump #1, #2 – operates normally.
Emergency Fire Pump – operates normally.

5. BOOSTER UNIT
ME Fuel Oil Heater and Electrical heater working normally.
ME Booster Pumps N1 and N2 in normal condition. (Slight leak on # 2)

6. FW GENERATOR
Average daily production – 6 to 8 m3. Regular Maintenance done. Chemical cleaning of Evaporato r and
condenser carried when it is necessary. Last cleaning was on 24 August

7. BILGE WATER SEPARATOR


BWS Alarms and function of Three-Way Valve tested weekly.

8. ENGINE ROOM BILGE SYSTEM


Engine Room Bilge System is in satisfactory condition. Testing of High Level Alarms carried out every
week.

9. SEWAGE SYSTEM
Working properly. Maintained in order. Sewage compartment cleaned in March 2021. As per Manuel
instructions, I highly recommend cleaning the entire unit in September

10. STEERING GEAR


Units are in good working condition. Visual inspection must be done daily. Steering Gear test carried out
prior arrival/departure.

11. BOW THRUSTER


B/T is work normally. Keep eyes every weekly safety on level of oil in the tank.
No abnormalities observed.

12. EMERGENCY DIESEL GENERATOR


Testing of Emergency Generator done weekly. Battery start or hydraulic start runs without difficulties.
Test run for half an hour – no remarks. Fuel tank filled up until 18 hrs. Non-stop run.

13. PIPING SYSTEM


Generally, pipes & valves in Engine Room is in normal condition. Pipes repaired and replaced by condition.

14. WATER TREATMENTS and ANALISYS


LT water is test is being performed weekly. The chemical dosage is already in range. The
chemical should be added LT Expansion tank as result of analysis. ROCOR NB LIQUD (or its
substitute CORROSION CONTROLLER) is being used to LT water for treatment.

HT water is also tested weekly. The chemical dosage is in range. The chemical should be
added HT Expansion TK as result of analysis. ROCOR NB LIQUD (or its substitute CORROSION
CONTROLLER) is being used to HT water for treatment.

Lube oil analysis should be done weekly. M/E end A/E weekly.

Sewage one time per month.

15. SLUDGE DISCHARGE TO SHORE

You are the in charge person for sludge discharge. Sludge pump is in good working condition,
prior for sludge discharging , 1 or 2 days before arrival in port heat up the sludge to 50-60c’ , and clean
the pump’s filters.
The pump capacity is 10 m3 /hr. but the actual pump rate may vary from 6 to 7 m3 per hour.

16. SLUDGE TRANSFERING

You are also In charge of Sludge transferring from bilge to dirty oil TK depend of Chief Engineer
order. Before making any transfer, inform the C/E or 2/E. Take a sounding before and after the transfer
on the tank.)

2.1 SOUNDINGS :

HFO TANKS : 32 and 33 the total height is 12m40cms , 30 and 31 the total height is 10m
( Ullage is preferable for HFO Tanks )
MDO TANKS : 38 and 39 are 11m and 10m80 respectively (Deep sounding is preferable )
Settling and Service Tanks , just check the level on the gauge ( Drain the tanks daily )

17. SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANTS


We have one sewage treatment plants on board. Moreover, it is in good working condition. The
compressor Carbone blades changed in April 2021, Chloride should be added manually. Usually
sewage treatment system discharge directly overboard. Inspection and cleaning of sewage plant was
done in March 2021. I highly recommend cleaning the entire unit in September 2021
Every Friday :1000g of Gamazyme 700FN is added , 5 bottles of BTC poured in
toilets in accommodation, and about 1.5L of Gamazyme Digestor is too

18. PURIFIER

19.1 HFO Purifier no. 1


It is an ALFA LAVAL
Last overhaul was on 3rd August, 2021, all gaskets changed, all buffer screws and compression rings changed as well,
in addition to bearings for spindle shaft, belt and clutch shoes were changed on May 2021. ( This purifier is now
STAND-BY)
On the 1st of September , purifier was vibrating , so I overhauled and checked the buffer screws and compression
rings , everything seems to be in order , but yet to start the purifier and check , if you start and still vibrating ,
change to No 2 , and wait for the Spare parts I requested for HFO , still to be delivered onboard.
19.2 HFO Purifier no. 2
Same as N1 purifier, working in normal condition.
Time to time give one alarm called A7-10 sent by water transducer, which mean that there is no water
in purified fuel, to avoid this problem check all the time the operating water pressure and if necessary
change the O-rings between water parts and fuel parts, AND I HIGHLY SUGGEST TO CLEAN THE
WATER TRANSDUCER FIRST. Clean with diesel and blow with air and just put back, things are
ought to go back to normal.
Last overhaul was on 31st August, 2021, all gaskets changed
19.3 MDO Purifier
It is an ALFA LAVAL purifier working in good condition.
During my contract , I never overhauled MDO purifier, its in good working conditions.

19.4 ME LO Purifier
ALFA LAVAL purifier with warm-wheel. A new three way valve has been put , just make sure
to start the pump and empty the system of the air it contains and start the purifier.
Last overhaul was on 2nd July, 2021, all gaskets changed

SPARE PART
All spare parts of purifiers you can find it in engine room workshop locker, with designated boxes.

1 WEEKLY SAFETY ROUND


Every week you need to check:

- All engine room bilges alarms


- All fire flaps
- All fire dumpers
- Cranes
- Bow thruster bilge alarm
- Emergency fire pump start and pressure
- Oil level in mooring winches in the aft
- Oil level in windless in forward
- Pipe tunnel and pipe tunnel bilge alarm
- Sewage treatment plant strainer to clean and to put chemicals (Gamazym 700 FN)
