Name - A Voice in the Quiet

Genre - Horror esk story game (not full horror but spooky)

The player character is trapped on an abandoned space station after receiving a

distress signal, they navigate their way through the station, to find out what had
happened to the station, they go around the station completing tasks to get to other
areas of the station, but quickly the player will realise they are being hunted but
whatever attacked the station.

The player is getting calls and messages from others on the station that they need to
help escape, the player will need to talk and communicate with the people around the
station to try and escape however this may attract unwanted attention.
Research - Alien Isolation
Alien Isolation is a classic first person sci-fi horror game
based off of the film Alien from 1979, because it is based
off of the film it attracted a wide audience of fans who
had enjoyed the film right from the release of the game.

In the game you have an alien (the xenomorph) hunting

the player, it stalks around the environment and will
charge at the player on sight, it also hides in vents and
will kill the player if they walk by,

The game gives the player guns despite the alien being
unkillable, this could I cause a sense of helplessness in
the player as the player panics and shoots the alien as
the come charging towards them.
Research - Observation

Observation is a psychological horror game, it is based in the

international space station, the player is a AI Probe called SAM, a strange
phenomenon happens as the station finds it is no longer orbiting earth
but instead orbiting the gas giant Saturn, as SAM you work to help the
occupants of the space station, SAM quickly starts to malfunction forcing
the player to take actions they do not want to take.

Instead of direct jumpscares the game plays with the player

psychologically an example being, (spoilers) building a relationship with
Emma Fisher, the main character, only to send them flying out of the
station to die in the vacuum of space with no way back, to then seeing a
duplicate of them back alive on the station.

Most of the way through the game the player is left confused and alone,
until pieces of the mystery slowly start joining together and it gradually
makes more and more sense as you reach towards the end of the game,
only for it to turn the player on its head again to keep them on the edge.
Observation ISS - Environment

In observation the player is on the International Space Station,

although it's not an exact replica, it is very similar in how it is built
and is adapted well to game form, since the actual ISS would be too
small for a full game to be played in, they made it a lot larger while
still keeping to the architecture and engineering on how the ISS is
made and functions.

Around the environment in observation there are a few areas that

they made which isn't in the actual space station since they adapted
it to a higher level of technology that still makes sense

MoodBoard - Monster
MoodBoard - Sprites

Easiest way to describe these guys is they are literally just a bunch of
ghost demon cats knocking stuff over and screwing with the player.

Final Concept - VoiceBox

After trying out a few different styles i decided to go for

something more humanoid, still thinking of a tall humanoid skinny
figure

I thought about how i could incorporate this monster in the game

and decided to give it a small box around its neck which would
emit and mimic voices and even decided on a fitting name for the
creature, VoiceBox.

Voicebox will call out and attract the player with cries for help and
other stuff like that in order to better hunt the player.

Voicebox, can barely see but generally just seems to “know” when
things enter a 5ft radius of it, it generally hates noises and will
track down and destroy anything that makes sound

Voice Box is Spectral and can't be touched by physical matter

unless Voicebox solidifies themselves to do so, usually when
attacking the player or an object

Voicebox generally dislikes the sprites and will kill them on sight

Concept - Sprites Concept - Items
I am planning on having some kind of inventory system, where
Sprites are little spirits that escaped containment the player can pick up key cards and other useful items
around the station, they are invisible but can be around the station
detected on a spectre sensor, they are mostly harmless,
and tend to just screw around with whoever is nearby, Auditory Grenade - creates a deafening screeching noise,
by just making things fall over, and making noises Attracts Voice Box, if used next to voice box it will stun them,
nearby them, making noises may attract the attention use this time to get away, if used on a sprite it will die
of VoiceBox, upon Voiceboxes appearance all sprites in
the area will scatter to run away from VoiceBox Lock pick - opens locked crates and doors with a padlock

They can also take items from the player and throw Key card - opens a matching door, multiple levels of keycards
them across the room, to just generally screw with the open different doors (level 1 - basic rooms, Level 2 - Labs,
player, they also open and close doors at random. Level 3 - Security, Level 4 - Containment cells)

Spectre sensor - detects nearby sprites, works similar to a

radar

Astro Suit - allows you to go through areas that are past an

airlock (there is a breach in the hull meaning no air)
Astro Suit Concept
Narrative and Lore
In the game you play as a Researcher named Juniper aboard Space
Station Artemis, you work for a Space Travel, Research and
Containment Company called The Luna Cooperation

At the start of the game, you awaken to your watch sounding an

Alarm along with the announcement of a containment breach.

Multiple Containment cells have been breached and the player is

tasked with finding any survivors of the breaches and evacuating
them from the ship

There are a few different people scattered across the ship, as

juniper attempts to find them while evading VoiceBox.

Audio logs of researchers are left behind of the research

conducted aboard the Artemis Station
