For me, the use of a weapon like sticks in Arnis makes it unique from other martial arts. The weapons used in Arnis ranged from knives and bladed weapons to sticks which gives us the opportunity to choose the weapon that is suitable to us and we are most confident with. Unlike other martial art, it does not limit our potential because any weapons can be used to perform the techniques and it does not see a difference between weapons and empty hands.
2. What are the unique features of Arnis? The unique features of Arnis include the use of weapons, fit the person’s natural movement, and part of the Filipino identity. The use of weaponry in Arnis ranged from bladed weapons such as knives to sticks and other improvised weapons, which allows us to do the same technique regardless of the weapon used. Aside from that, people developed Arnis to fit a person’s natural movement. This is perfect for people who struggle in performing a specific technique and help them form their own fighting styles. Lastly, Arnis as part of the Filipino identity, wherein it reflects our history, philosophy, and culture.
