Writing a Narrative
Writing From Experience
It’s a good idea to write about what you know. But that doesn’t mean that you have
to limit yourself to things that have actually happened. You can use places that you
are familiar with, or things that have happened that you know about, as springboards
to invent entirely new stories.
Think about your home, your neighborhood, your school, the playground. What
has happened there, or might happen?
Think about your family, your friends, your neighbors, your teachers. What traits
do they have that could be isolated or exaggerated into an entirely new
character?
Think about things that you have done or would like to do. How could one of
those things be a main event in a story?
Think of places you have been or would like to go. What kinds of stories might
happen in each setting?
