Answer:
These are three substrates of prenatal period:
1. Germinal stage (FERTILIZATION TO TWO WEEKS) – The germinal stage is also known as
pre-embryonic stage. It started when the sperm and egg cell unite or met each other and
it happens shortly after the conception. In this stage, a sperm and egg form a zygote which
is, this zygote contains for all substantial factors for development. The zygote starts
making a journey down the fallopian tube to the uterus.
The changes that happen in this stage are: skin and nervous system, digestive and
respiratory systems, muscle and skeletal systems.
2. Embryonic stage (two to 8 – 12 weeks) – After conception, baby begins a period of
dramatic change known as the embryonic stage. During this stage, the baby is called an
embryo. There are some changes or development that occur in this period. First,
respiratory system which the development of lungs begins during the third week, with the
appearance of respiratory diverticulum (lung bud) as an outgrowth from the ventral wall
of the foregut. 2nd, the development of nervous system. This nervous system begins to
form in the third week of development.
3. Fetal stage (8-12 weeks to birth) – The time from the ninth week until birth is known as
the fetal period. In this stage, the baby is called “fetus” and the baby will grow longer and
gain weight rapidly. The baby is starting to bend their arms and legs to make movements.
The bones in the baby’s face have formed and their ears are starting to develop.
