- These are some characteristics of Babyhood. First, it is the true foundation of age wherein many psychological changes occur that includes behavioural patterns, attitudes, traits and emotional expression start to established. Second, babyhood is the age of rapid growth and change. Lot of changes will develop at this phase. Babies are able to understand many things and can communicate their needs or wants in ways that others can understand. They physical structure will also grow rapidly like limbs develop. In addition, in this stage movement skills will also begin to establish wherein a baby can start run, walk up and down stairs while holding on, and can stand on tiptoes. Further, the third characteristics of babyhood is, it is the hazardous age. In this stage, children who are at 2 years old or below should be watch always because they are prone to illness, accidents or any physical hazards. At this age, the baby can walk, run, climb, jump, and explore everything. Because of all the new things he or she can do, this stage is very dangerous time in every child’s life.
