THE IMPORTANCE OF INNOVATIVE TEACHING IN THE NEW NORMAL

REACTION PAPER

When we say innovation it means a lot to education, especially during this pandemic
time. We don’t have face to face teaching. In this time, we need to find ways and means to
educate the learners despite pandemic, so we need to innovate meaning we need to explore on
what are tools we need to uncover something new. Innovation involves a different way of
looking at problems and solving them. In department of education case, our problem is on how
could we teach the learners for them to have continuous learning amidst this time. Here comes
the different types of learning modality like online, modular print, Radio Based Instruction, etc.
Most of schools using modular print which is very useful especially to those students or learners
from remote areas, not all of the students have their own mobile phone. In modular print
modality of learning, teachers need to facilitate from time to time the module distribution and
module retrieval because most of the parents are busy in their daily work which is farming.
Teacher should follow up always the performance of the learners and update also the parents
regarding the performance of their children in school. In checking their answer sheet, the
teacher should always give feedback to their answers, because some students dont follow
instructions. We also have online learning modality. In this type of modality, we can choose
what is best for the learners need in terms of availability of gadgets and internet connectivity.
We can use google classroom, google meet, and other online modality. Sometimes we can
encounter technical problems especially in connectivity but this is normal in online learning
modality, which we cannot control.

I can say that innovation is very important in new normal situation to build technology-
based skills. This time, students, teachers and parents can communicate and collaborate
effectively. While students pay more attentions on gadgets at the same time they are learning
also by accessing the link provided by the teacher.
