Honorable Chair Fellow Delegates,

Hunger. Do you know what hunger is? People feel hungry every once in a while, if they hadn’t eaten in a
few hours. But what others feel is nothing compared to the long painful hours of work on an empty
stomach to long hours of pain after work while still on an empty stomach that people in Africa go
through almost every day of their lives. The surge of hunger in sub-Saharan countries has caused for
more than 60% of residents in sub-Saharan countries to lack proper food and water to lead a normal life.

Due to these sad but true facts, France has taken the initiative upon itself to try its best to help this
population in any way possible. Over the last 4 years France has supported more than half a million
people in Africa in 2020 during covid, by providing nutritional food and clean water for them. France has
also set a plan with the united nations world food program, to scale up their operations from helping a
bit less than 10 million people in 2018 to more than 20 million in 2019.

In addition to that France has fully committed itself to achieving SDG 2 which is zero hunger. It has put in
a new international plan of action that should relieve more than 1 billion people from hunger by the
year 2030. It has devoted a large amount of resources to agriculture within its country and outside in
hopes of helping these starving communities and populations.

Finally, France along with all other countries urge the fortunate to feel with the less fortunate and to do
whatever they can to help. People can start by donating to reliable organizations such as the world food
program and the share the meal program. In addition to that, France urges all first world countries to
commit to the SDGs that the united nations have put including their action plans, to relieve these people
of their suffering and hardships.

Thank you.
Subtopic 1
Food Security.

Honorable Chair Fellow Delegates,

Food security is one of the most important aspects of hunger in sub-Saharan communities as most times
there is food available but they are very unhealthy due to the bad living conditions. In this case there
would be no food security. The criteria for food security are very simple yet very hard to comply with, as
the African communities have proved over many years in the past.

For that reason, France is working its utmost hardest to ensure food security all throughout the world
but especially in sub-Saharan Africa by developing a sustainable agricultural food system that is now
being implemented around the world to increase food security. When faced with some natural
speedbumps such as climate change, these food systems have ensured secure food even through these
challenges.

Moreover, France has been working hand in hand with the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) as
well as the World Food Program to ensure food security in sub-Saharan Africa by raising awareness as
well as providing monetary and other types of aid. In addition to that, it plays a pivotal role in the
international fund for agricultural development (IFAD).

Moreover France has been working hand in hand with many food security programs such as the world
food program and the international fund for agricultural development to raise awareness and provide
aid to the less fortunate.

Finally, France urges all countries who have not yet contributed to programs which ad In food security to
do so as soon as possible. On top of that, it is very important that countries support the structuring of
sustainable agricultural food chains to promote the creation of decent jobs in rural areas as well as
provide secure food to those who need it.

Thank you.
