#EverydayMirrors

Today we live in a society surrounded and characterized by well-known standards of beauty. We are
judged by the way we dress, and by not being the way people want us to be. The standards of
beauty in Portugal are quite strict, our interior does not count, what counts is whether we are
beautiful or if we dress in a certain way. We are influenced by the media and social networks, and
we don't always know how people feel behind that beautiful photo. The standards of beauty
imposed by our society make us women tend to compare ourselves with people we see on television
or social networks, we feel frustrated for not having that body or for not being like them. For
example, I have a friend who changed his way of dressing so that girls would look at him more . Here
is a meaningful example of how and why imposing standards of beauty harms us and others. From
the stories that I read , i recommend the ones that had the most impact on me, it was precisely
when I read that some people even have serious health problems fighting to get the "perfect" body.
Be yourself. It is not the way you look that defines who you are.
