Prerequisites

1. First, install Steam from this website, have a Steam account with an activated HTC Vive serial key.

2. Now, go to the Library, in the “Tools” subsection and install SteamVR from it.

3. Run it once installed, done.

Calibrating the Virtualizer
Please calibrate the Virtualizer according to the document “Setup Instructions” provided with your
device or downloadable from our Developer Center.

Calibrate the Virtualizer with the HTC Vive
Before you plug in the Virtualizer, please turn the harness (search for the printed arrow on the ring)
to the reset position.

Steps to follow very carefully
First of all, launch the SteamVR’s “Room Setup” in Standing Only mode:

Then, you need to put the HTC Vive HMD at the center of the Virtualizer, directly on the base plate if
you can.
The Vive should be aimed towards the same pillar you calibrate the Virtualizer with (please check
the previous part of this document).

 • Place your “Calibration Board” (simple wooden board, approx. dimensions 60 x 20 cm) on
the Virtualizer as shown below:

Now, the HTC Vive needs to be calibrated to the Virtualizer:

• Put the HTC Vive in the following position:

o The headset needs to be put on the Calibration Board
o The headset needs to be put in the center of the Virtualizer (approx.. above
the sensors on the floor)
o The headset needs to be orientated in the direction of the reset pillar.
It is very important, that this step is done correctly.
The orientation should be as precise as possible.

The positioning of the headset is shown in the following pictures:

Now, measure the height (in cm) your HTC Vive is above the floor of the Virtualizer.

In my case, the height is approx. 116 cm. It is totally fine if the height is
different in your case.

➢ Use this value for the “Locate the Floor” SteamVR calibration step.

Finally, you can just follow the regular list of SteamVR calibration steps.
