HUNGER AND FUNDACION CODESPA FOR THE 4-YEAR DRR-CCA
PROJECT ENTITLED “PROMOTING CLIMATE AND DISASTER
RESILIENCE TRANSFORMATION IN THE PROVINCE OF SURIGAO
DEL SUR

CHAIRPERSON ON ENVIRONMENT AND AGRICULTURE.

RATIONALE:

Mindanao’s vulnerability to natural disaster and extreme climatic events like

floods and landslides. Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur among the top 20
provinces most vulnerable to Climate Change. Natural disasters generate significant
losses in the local livelihoods-El Nino losses during the 2011-15 amounting more
than 3billion USD and Vinta caused agricultural losses amounting to 4 million EUR,
with losses in key commodities. Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry (AFF) activities
in the targeted areas are experiencing productivity challenges-farmers still experience
low productivity and difficulties accessing inputs, credit and market. Challenges that
intensify due to the degradation of natural resources and the negative effects of
Climate Change.

I. OBJECTIVES:

Strengthening Local Governments’ capacities for disaster preparedness, response

and early warning and promoting alternative/additional productive activities that can
minimize Climate Change (CC) negative effects and a faster recovery after disasters
while allowing savings for their family needs.

It promotes information sharing with LGU and advance communication on Pre-

Convenio working plan and key stages and re-validation of the pre-identified
municipalities based on a) poverty, b) government will and c) vulnerability to disaster
criteria, presenting initial analysis and adjustments.

Budgetary Requirements:

1) Lunch (150.00x10pax) . . . PHP 1,500.00

2) Snacks( 50.00x 20pax) . . . 1,000.00

TOTAL PHP 2,500.00

Source of Funds:

The funding shall be charge to the Office of the Municipal Mayor under Representation
Expenses.
