What is a significant challenge that you believe women in the tech industry

face and how do you see yourself as being part of the solution(s) to this
challenge? Keep in mind that impact can happen in many ways and at
different scales.

Though women possess equal or more skill sets than their male counterparts,
women often find that societal pressures and cultural norms hinder their
employment and career advancement in tech careers. Though there have been
considerable advances in gender equality, men continue to outnumber women
in the tech industry.
One of the major challenges that women face in tech companies is not fitting in.
Many of them suffer from feelings of inferiority. They lack confidence in the men
dominated tech world and often underestimate their skills. Known gender
biases are already present in the workplace, so an unconscious bias prevents
females from improving their skills and experiences. Due to their lack of
recognition of their skills and contributions, women are often less motivated to
perform or participate in team activities and this led to the chances of females
developing mental health issues. Approximately more than half of the women
working in the tech world report sexual harassment. Women in IT frequently
report lacking full support from their co-workers. Very often woman's traditional
role at home prevents her from finding a healthy work-life balance. The act of
coping with unfairness and discrimination in the workplace can be difficult on its
own, but dealing with it without support for the chosen career makes handling
it even more difficult.
The tech industry isn't going to change overnight magically, so we need to be
both strategic and realistic at the same time.
Be obsessed with knowledge and make learning different tech skills a personnel
commitment to yourself. I myself never stop learning new things, I am an
introvert and every time I take it as a challenge to meet new people and take
part in different co-curricular activities. I also motivate my fellow female college
mates to take part in different events going around in our college. This obsession
with knowledge and learning new skills will help women to gain confidence in
tech world and if you are well versed in your skills, no one can ever
underestimate you. And we should also learn to be a self-promoter. We should
share our accomplishments and keep our eye out for every opportunity to
showcase our skills. I mean how people will recognize us for our marvellous work
if we are invisible, right? So grab every opportunity that you get in your life.

And I had to take heavy doses of steroids. Because of the intake of steroids for
a longer period, the first cataract developed in my right eye. And then glaucoma.
Because of high pressure in my right eye due to glaucoma for a longer period, I
lost the vision in my right eye. I am not complaining about my disability, but I
want to say that this disability reminds me to work harder for my future goals
every day so that I can help people like me to pursue their future goals.
