GABALDON BUILDING – TUGUEGARAO CITY

- As to the history of the gabaldon buildings, the one we see today is the restored one
due to the damages made in WWII
- CNHS was founded as CHS, which was Cagayan High School in 1905
- As to the restoration work, it is narrated at the historical marker at the facade.
- The enrollees of the Colegio de san jacinto at St. paul which was run by the Dominican
Fathers, They transferred to CHS because Colegio de san Jacinto was ruined.

- the middle part of the courtyard have a bust of jose rizal
- in the portico, there is a baldosa istalled which is a rare type of thich tiles
- in the eaves of the roof, there are wooded modillion built.
- Windows are built with wooden panel and Capiz shells using mortise-joint.
- There are also frieze on top of the walls
- The floors of the building are made of woods
- The façade of the building is classical. There are steps before the main portico or
podium. There are columns with complete ornament for Tuscan order. there are
dosseret block on top of the capitals of the columns
- After the dosseret block are the arches.
- Between the arch, there is a spandrel space with round ornament.
- In the podium/portico, the first space is the conference room. Inside the conference
room, there is a massive painting about the history of Cagayan. There is also a
mezzanine built inside the conference room. At the top of the conference room’s Doors
and windows are arches of iron works bearing CHS
- The left and right parts are symmetrical. There are corridors (North, west, south) facing
courtyard, with bust of jose rizal at the east part of the courtyard
- There are record rooms in the right portion of the conference room.
- The type of the window used is awning.
- As to the history, it was contructed by the fund for restoration of dmaged structures
adter the World War II, after 1945.
- The Philippine rehabilitation Act was the one who provide funds for the re construction
of the damaged structures after the war.
