Primary Checks

1. Is transportation lock opened properly?

2. Is any wind around the site?
Is any oscillation? Is the working table stable?
3. Is pan base positioned correctly in protection frame B? (See page 11).
4. Is weighing pan spaced from protection frame A underneath? (See page 11).
5. Is the weighing pan a right one?
6. Is AC adapter connected both with the balance and with the outlet properly?
7. Is battery option charged sufficiently?

Removing / Fitting of Upper Case

1. How to remove upper case

(1) Remove weighing pan and pan base underneath. Then remove two fixing screws
referring to the following illustration.
(2) Lifting the case up, unplug connector CN3 on HGD circuit board. Now the case is
removed.

2. How to fit upper case.

(1) Plug connector of the case to CN3 on HGD circuit board. Then cover the balance
with the case seeing all cables are set inside properly.
(2) Fit the case with two fixing screws securely.
(3) Place the pan base and the weighing pan properly.

Perfomance Tests
Repeatability Test

(1) Referring to operation manual, set AUTO-ZERO at off (3 A.0 0). Also set the least
readability at the finest (72 dA 1, 74 db 1).

(2) Press the T key to clear display to "0". Place a full balance weight just at the
centre of the weighing pan and read the value. Repeat this for 2 or 3 times to
verify that the errors at zero and full capacity are within the least readability.

Corner Errors Test

(1) Referring to operation manual, set AUTO-ZERO at off (3 A.0 0). Also set the least
readability at the finest (72 dA 1, 74 db 1).

(2) Place a full balance weight just on the centre of the weighing pan and press the T
key to clear display to "0".

(3) Place the weight in order from A, to B, C, D, E referring to the above illustration,
reading the difference between "0" at the point A. If the errors are over the
tolerance, that is 3 divisions, adjust the corner errors referring to page 14.

470-SU-e-9811 11
Corner Error Adjustment

Remove the upper case referring to page 11. Place the pan base, then place the
weighing pan on the mechanism. Adjust the errors by adjusting bolts referring to the
following illustration.

PARTS REPLACEMENTS

1. How to Remove Weighing Mechanism

(1) Remove the upper case referring to page 11.

(2) Remove two Lock Assembly Fixing Screws, then remove the Lock Assembly.
(3) Unplug connection cord from CN1 on VIBA-2A, oscillation circuit board.

(4) Unplug Output cord from CN5 on HGD circuit board, and pull out of Base Block.
(5) Remove three Mechanism Fixing Nuts on the bottom of the balance by a nut
driver of app. 7mm.
(6) Remove the mechanism unit by holding at base block*.

470-SU-e-9811 13
*Caution: Do not hold other parts than the base block.

2. How to Install Weighing Mechanism

(1) Place the mechanism on the lower case. Fix it by three nuts on the bottom of the
balance. Insert output cord into the base block referring to the following
illustration.

14 470-SU-e-9811
(2) Plug the output cord to CN5 on HGD circuit board, passing inside of the
supporting metal.
(3) Plug connection cord of the balance on CH1 of VIBA-2A, oscillation circuit board.

(4) Installation of Lock Assembly

Fit the Lock Assembly temporarily with the screws. After turning the lever to lock,
tighten two screws from ℵ to ℑ successively.

(5) Cover the balance with upper case referring to page 11.

Adjusting

(1) Press F key until CAL appears after displaying Func.

(2) While pressing T key, press F key and release both together.

(3) unit ο appears showing the weight unit which currently set for Group "A" at
function "71 uA". If any adjusting weights for that unit is unavailable, change the
parameter to that of available weight, referring to next page, "Parameters and
Corresponding Adjusting Weights". Pressing T key changes the parameter in
following sequence.

If the parameter for 73_ub is set at "0", unit ο will not appear. In this case, you
should use adjusting weights either of the unit currently set in function 71 uA ο, or
of any available unit after changing the parameter at 71 uA ο.

(4) Pressing F key displays on 0, to indicate automatic zero point adjustment.

(5) When automatic zero adjustment is completed, display changes to on F.S. Load
proper full capacity weight in the centre of the weighing pan, referring to the table
in next page. Make sure that the weight is of the unit selected in above (3). Load
the weight very gently.

(6) The span adjustment will be achieved automatically. Display will return to
weighing mode to indicate the adjustment is completed.

Notes
1. To stop operation in the middle, press S key.
2. 0-Err signs that the reference weight is over the full capacity.
3. Adjusting is available even with 50% weight of the capacity, still we recommend to
adjust with full capacity weights. 1-Err will appear if the weight is less than 50% of
the capacity.
4. 2-Err will appear if the error exceeds 1% of the capacity, or any other object than a
adjusting weight is loaded. Or, perhaps the balance is still defective.
