Covid 19
Our school website is continually updated with the most up to date guidance. The isolation reference is
available for your convenience on our website. Please consult this if you are unsure of what to do if your
child becomes symptomatic or is designated a close contact.

The guidance remains largely as before, inclusive of work that will be provided if your child is off school. In terms of
brief absences, a programme of work will not be provided, as it would be for an extended period of time such as a pos-
itive case or close contact absence. However, if your child is well enough and you as a parent feel they require work,
please continue with spellings, tables and reading and other homework activities. It can be a great opportunity to revise
previously covered work. This will be more than sufficient. If a child is unwell, please allow them time to recover.
Your co-operation in this regard is much appreciated.
Ultimately, please do not send your child to school if they are showing any symptoms of Covid-19.
Again, I kindly ask you to make me aware, if your child tests positive for Covid-19. When a Principal is notified that a
child who has been in school during the infectious period has had a positive result, school principals have been reques-
ted by the Department of Education to inform the other parents in the pod to let them know how they can access free
antigen tests for their children in the identified pod. The child's details will not be shared with other parents. The Anti-
gen Freephone number is: 1800 110055 or parents may order antigen tests online via www.hse.ie/schooltest
All children in the pod can continue to attend school as long as they remain asymptomatic and they do not have a posit-
ive COVID-19 antigen or PCR test result. Our School Roll Number is 05501A, you will need this to order antigen
tests.

Children who have symptoms of COVID-19, regardless of antigen test result, should stay at home and follow
most up to date isolation guidelines.

HEPA filters have been installed in all rooms but doors and windows will continue to be open under
Departmental guidance on ventilation.

Homework
Please ensure your child’s homework is checked each evening and sign their journal when you have done so.
The journal is a vital home-school link, so I ask you to check it daily, to ensure all correspondence from
school is seen. We value home-school links in Scoil Naoimh Éanna, the door, although metaphorically
presently due to Covid, is always open. In working together as a partnership, with open and honest
communication, I firmly believe that there is very little that cannot be talked-through or indeed sorted.
Dates for your Diary
6th Class pupils will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in Inniskeen on 13th May at 6pm.
2nd Class pupils will receive the sacrament of First Penance in Killanny during the school day on 28th of
February.
2nd Class pupils will receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist in Killanny on Saturday 30th April at 12pm.
We will be guided by Public Health Guidelines at all times.

Half Day Closures

The school will close at 12 noon on Wednesday 23rd February and Friday 3rd June to facilitate staff in-service
for the New Primary Language Curriculum.

Morning Drop-Off
Under no circumstances should children be left unsupervised at the school gate before 9.10am in the
morning. Please do not allow children from the car to stand at the gate prior to 9.10am. This is in the safety
interests of all members of our school community. Your co-operation in this regard is much appreciated.

PE Coaches
Ms. Rosita Shakelton joins us for 6 weeks with our Junior Classes for some dance lessons which I’m sure
will be enjoyed by all.
We will welcome Enda O’Brien back as a basketball coach over the coming term also for all classes. Thank
you to the Parents Association for all their continued support.

Prefects
Our 6th Class pupils have assumed the role of Prefect on a rotating weekly basis. They have shown a
wonderful sense of leadership and compassion to our younger pupils, all while keeping their distance and not
mixing within younger bubbles, not an easy task as you can imagine. A huge well done must go to 6th Class
for all they do for us in school. Go raibh míle maith agaibh Rang a 6!

Finally,
A special mention must go to all of our pupils who have settled back into school life and school work so well
after the Christmas break. They have all embraced the New Year with a freshness and positivity that is to be
commended. Thank you to all of our families who support our work here in school and continually encourage
their children each day.

Ní neart go cur le chéile,

Le gach dea ghuí,

Emer Quinn
Principal
