WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

State the importance of citing sources. (Minimum of 100 words)

To cite a source is to acknowledge the originator of information, an idea, or a method of

expressing an idea. It is a standardized way of honoring people who helped you throughout
your research. It properly acknowledges the authors of the words or ideas that you used in
your paper and enables individuals who are reading your work to find your references and
learn more about the concepts you discuss in your article. Citing sources can also help you
avoid having plagiarism in your writing when used clearly and properly. A good citation
makes it simple for the reader to determine the source’s information.

WHAT I CAN DO

for each of the Web sites found.

colonization of the islands in the 16th century.

rain forests, which contain 90 billion to 140 billion metric tons of carbon, help stabilize
local and global climate.
