ASSIGNMENT – 4

Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, today delivered the Union Budget 2022-23,
emphasizing that it will build the groundwork for India's economic growth and progress over the next
25 years. The budget address included no announcements about modifications to the income tax slabs.

It's worth noting that Article 112 of the Indian Constitution mandates the annual Union Budget, often
known as the Annual Financial Statement. It is essentially a statement of the government's expected
receipts and expenditures for a certain year.

In her fourth consecutive Budget address, FM Sitharaman stated that India's economic growth is
expected to be 9.2 percent this year, the highest among all large economies.

cover 1208 lakh metric tonnes of wheat and paddy from 163 lakh farmers, as well as 2.37 lakh crore
indirect payment of MSP value to their accounts.

Chemical-free Natural Farming would be promoted throughout the country in the first stage, with a
concentration on farmers' fields in 5-km wide corridors along the Ganga.

The use of 'Kisan Drones' for crop evaluation, digitalization of land data, and spraying of pesticides
and fertilizers will be encouraged.
States will be urged to update agricultural university curricula to fit the demands of natural, zero-
budget, and organic farming, contemporary agriculture, value addition, and management.

The Ken-Betwa Link Project, with an estimated cost of 44,605 crore, will be implemented. The
government would give a complete package with the assistance of state governments to farmers in
order for them to adopt acceptable kinds of fruits and vegetables and to apply appropriate production
and harvesting techniques.

According to the finance minister: "Since 2014, our administration has prioritised citizen
empowerment, particularly for the poor and marginalised. Housing, power, cooking gas, and access to
water have all been provided as measures. In addition, we have programmes to ensure financial
inclusion and direct benefit transfers. We are devoted to enhancing the poor's ability to seize all
possibilities. Our administration is always working to provide the necessary ecology for the middle
classes — a broad and diverse segment of the population divided into multiple middle-income groups
– to take advantage of the chances they so want."
