Eclipse of knights, the time when white was noxious and night arose heroism; Initially, as a foe,

turned ally in reciprocity. A Myth and a Legend trapped in Kafkaesque, he who fought giants for the
battles of others, a confrontation deprived of himself. A Black hero of pure heart and gallantry, David
Fagen. A Black American Hero in the Philippines

The legend of General David Fagen, afore migration to the Philippines, the 24th infantry
evinced assiduity consequent to the rescue of the then colonel, President Theodore Roosevelt. Thus,
the Twenty-Fourth Infantry was sent to the Philippines to massacre Filipino heroes in 1899, treated as
disposable weapons especially that slavery and black American dehumanization were still extant;
referencing El Filibusterismo of Doctor Jose Rizal, at the time Simoun was supposed as a “mulatto”
‘tis a reflection of the victimization of the African Americans. With all that, the Buffalo soldiers found
inspiration in the resistance of the Filipinos, aspired valor for their people. With mutuality in
subjugation and reciprocal sentiments of the few, an alliance of military commission has been
realized—The unsung hero, David Fagen is decorated with derogatory titles from the Americans;
however, he was abjured from brutality even by his white captives. Fagen was declared as a bandit
with a 600-dollar bounty, who’s described as elusive and guileful even to the eyes of the infamous
guerilla chaser, Frederick Funston. Nevertheless, Anastacio Bartolome, a Filipino traitor hunter,
revealed a supposed decomposing head of General David Fagen. In karma, Bartolome is not
revealed to accept any guerdon. Moreover, Black Americans after slavery, the surmise emancipation,
howbeit, was still left with discrimination of segregation and systematic racism. An extraneous knight
protected foreign people, albeit all the moxie, the Philippines has instilled bigotry from colonial
mentality influenced by American imperialism, verily our fellow indigenous Filipinos are internally
discriminated specifically the Aetas—As a Matter-of-fact, we still can’t accept liberalism, with our
stagnant proliferation of toxic Filipino culture in judgmentalism factored by internalized structured
oppression and cultural assimilation of our opulent pre-colonial culture, starting from the Spanish era
of despotism, to the American annexation putting Americans on a high pedestal of reverence for their
customs and pernicious mestiza culture; notwithstanding, the perpetuated lifestyle of Eurocentric
features and heritage remained triumphant to this day. Mr. Cristian G. Lingad

I personally thanked Mr. Uckung via messenger for this sublime article and to conclude, In the
words of Peter Jaynul V. Uckung, David Fagen is a monument of hero and, Happiness is the purpose
of heroism and history. May we do not forget that Caucasians are not the enemy; it is bigotry that
divided humanity rooted in dogmatic ideologies. The death of the Great David Fagen was not
confirmed; therefore, he will continue to live in our hearts. And shall be an exceptional example for us,
to fight the battles of other oppressed groups and correct his deficiency to protect our own nation from
tyrants. https://rb.gy/utnmjs
