What’s More

Answer the following questions on a separate sheet of paper.

1. What is the cause of an earthquake?

-Earthquake are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden

2.How does a hypocenter differ from an epicenter?

-The hypocenter is the point within the earth where an earthquake rupture starts. The epicenter is
the point directly above it at the surface of the earth. Also commonly termed the focus.

3. How can we locate the epicenter of an earthquake?

-Use triangulate to find the epicenter of an earthquake.
