Instruction: Read and answer the given questions.

1. What is a graphic organizer?

Graphic organizer visually depicts relationships between facts, information and concepts. This allows
the learners to easily identify the patterns of organization as its purpose is to stress the concepts and
the relationships, allowing the learners to be focused on the important pieces of information and
arrive to the overall understanding of the text.

2. What are the different graphic organizers that help in reading comprehension?

There are five graphic organizers that can help effectively in reading comprehension, these are as
follows:

 The Cause and Effect Map: describes how an events affect one another in a process

 Concept Map Organizer: helps users organize and represent knowledge of a subject; it begins
with a main idea and branches out by the specific topics or information

 Venn Diagram: is an illustration that shows the relationships among things; it helps to visualize
the similarities and differences between two concepts.

 Spider Map Graphic Organizer: it is used to display knowledge in a visual framework; the
difference of spider map to its identical graphic organizers is how it organize information without
hierarchical structure

 Idea Wheel Organizer: it is a mixture of two graphic organizer—Circle map and Spider Map; this
works for brainstorming and organizing ideas at the same time.
