SCHOOL UNIFORMS

Let us put forward the rather thorny issue that has been gaining
momentum lately, school uniforms. In Spain, children are meant to be
outright free in making their minds up, when it comes down to their school
outfits. Yet, a question needs raising, as allegedly, not only do some
institutions urge them to wear their particular distinguishing attire abroad, but
also to do it in a pride-like manner. So, do school uniforms contribute to
easing of bullying? And if so, why is it overwhelmingly disregarded topic in
Spain?

It is vital to bring people´s attention that, as it happens, a study has

brought to light that school uniforms are bound to further diminish mean
behavior and harassment at school, in the light that they uphold equality, up
to a certain extent.

By the same token, it goes without saying that they do save parents a
titanic amount of money, when not feeling compelled to buy, namely,
expensive trendy brand-new trainers, just for the sake of making them fit
with their peers.

At the other end of the spectrum, opponents utterly assert the idea that
school uniforms, as the saying goes, tend to upset the applecart, be it by
restricting students´ freedom of expression, or hindering student´s self-image,
which can have a bearing on their mental health.

I dare say that this has proven to be nothing but a remarkably contentious
topic that touches all of us. Thereby, it should be mulled over in Spanish
public schools, in a bid to do an in-depth study on whether making them
compulsory should address bullying. The latter, lies at the root of prejudice
alongside with disparity, hence, only by advocating for full equality will
bullying be brought downwards. So, without a shadow of doubt, had I
been in the shoes of Spanish public schools, I would have implemented
school uniforms, it might very well will result in lessening differences among
students, and thereupon be a colossal game-changer.
By and large, it seems far-fetched that they will come to fruition to Spain,
unless a full proof plan is struck to make students and parents aware that it
can be nothing but a blessing in disguise.
