In the modern world, the number of professions is quite

astounding. An astrologer (including me) is not even aware of
all the possible professions, forget about making predictions!
It is just not possible! Let the message sink in. If someone
claims he can accurately predict what you are going to do in
life, he is either fraud or ignorant and maybe both! Better to
stay away from him! We need to understand that every
subject has its limitation. Nobody has access to the magic
wand in this world. For example, an eminent historian can
give a lot of information about the great king Chandragupta
Maurya, but it is impossible for him also to precisely tell what
he had in lunch on a specific day! We should limit our
expectations.

Having said that, let me also add that it is possible in

astrology to give a general indication of kind of work, which
is more suitable for a native to pursue as a career option. It
can not pinpoint, but it gives a general idea, a broader area
where the native might do well.

Keeping this in mind we will move into the astrological nitty-

gritty of predicting career opportunity in business. “Whether I
should do business or look for a job?” This is a quite common
question that an astrologer frequently faces in his career. It is
possible to get a reasonably good idea of whether the native is
in business or job or what is more suitable for him.

Rule –

First thing comes first. No matter you are in business, job or

some independent consultation stuff, the 10th house always
indicates your profession. This is the house of career. To
narrow it down you need to pay attention to the other houses
that are getting connected with the 10th house. The 7th house
is the house of business (Yes!, 7th house is the house of
marriage and business both!), and 6th house is the house of
job. Also, remember that we pursue a career to earn. Right?
So the house of income and savings – the 2nd house, the
house of fulfilment of desires and big gains – 11th house, and
of course the house of luck – the 9th house have to be
considered. Without the luck on your side, no matter how
efficient you are you will end up being a loser! That is a fact,
we might like it or not! Now, in a chart 6th and 7th, both
houses may make connections to the houses as mentioned
earlier (10, 11, 2, 9). In that case, you have to weigh the
strength and number of connections. When a job or business
house makes the connection with 9 / 2 / 11 houses that
indicates the native is going to flourish in that venture.
Ascendant has to be also connected as it shows native’s
involvement.
Enough of theory! Let’s examine a real-world example! You
might mug up a lot of theories in astrology, but at the end
wondering how to predict and how to approach a chart! It
happens! Astrology is a practical subject, and the goal is to
predict. You need to know the art of applying all theoretical
knowledge to solve the real problem at hand! This is known
as the art of prediction.

Prediction –

He is a businessman. Right now his business is not running

well. The problem started in 2006. In 2011 he faced a severe
crisis. Now also things are not going well. But the table will
turn for sure. In 2024 the golden time of his life is going to
come. He is going to get everything back what life snatched
from him. He needs to wait patiently for the right time. He
has to be careful about making decisions. Decision making is
a big problem for him. He is simply not good at it. He needs
to think twice before making decisions.

Explanation –

Here I am assuming that you understand the basics of Hindu

astrology.
1. 10th lord Sun is placed with 7th lord Venus in the 1st house
(Scorpio). The 2nd lord Jupiter (he is 5th lord also) is placed
in 9th house – exalted. Jupiter is aspecting Sun and Venus
with his 5th aspect. The 1 + 10 + 7 + 2 + 9 connection is
there. This is a business connection. A very powerful and well
placed Jupiter (the most benefic planet, in this chart also
functional benefic) is forming this connection. The 1st and 6th
lord Mars is placed in 11th house. But it is not making any
connection with 2nd or 10th house. So though a job
connection is there, but not very strong compared to the
business connection. Business connection is stronger. He is a
businessman.
2. Rahu is placed in one of the dusthanas – 6th house. From
the 6th house it aspects 2nd, 11th, and 7th house. Rahu
controls his professional life. But 6th house is not a good
position for Rahu. Though the lord of the 6th house (Mars) is
well placed but still Rahu in 6th does not do much good. Rahu
mahadasha started in December of 2005. Till December 2023
he will go through Rahu mahadasha. The Rahu dasha will
create trouble in his profession. Remember Rahu creates
problems in the material world, not psychological turmoil like
Ketu does.
3. During 2011 he went through Saturn dasha under Rahu
mahadasha. Saturn is 3rd and 4th lord and placed in 4th
house. So far so good. However, he is a natural malefic. But
even a natural malefic protects his own house. However, in
other houses wherever he aspects he will bring suffering and
misfortune. No doubt about it. Saturn aspects 7th house
(business), 11th house (success and significant gains) and
ascendant. These houses will be tremendously affected in
Saturn dasha. Saturn is the karaka of suffering. He will inflict
considerable damage to the business. He can push someone
into an abyss. It was a horrible phase of his life.
4. Jupiter is exalted in 9th house. The planet placed in 9th
house, especially if strong and good brings a very good time
to the native. Moreover, this is Jupiter. Jupiter is retrograde.
But in Vedic astrology retrograde planet is not necessarily a
bad planet. Remember that. In this mahadasha, for at least the
first 10 years he will get a tremendous boost in his career,
which is right now impossible even to imagine. Time will
change dramatically.
5. Right now he is going through Venus dasha. Venus is
within the 7-degree orb of Sun. So not very powerful. Also
placed in the enemy sign of Mars and with enemy Sun. Venus
can’t do any good to him.
6. In the meantime, in 2014 Mercury dasha he saw a brief
somewhat good phase, but that did not last long. Mercury is
the 11th lord but also lord of the dusthana (8th lord).
7. As his Moon is with Rahu, it indicates lack of mental
stability, and he is prone to take wrong decisions which
eventually plays a crucial role for his own misfortune. Also,
Saturn is aspecting Moon. Moon is quite weak in this chart.

Reality –

He is indeed a businessman, but he is going through the

toughest time of his life. Literally, everything is falling apart
around him (in his own word). He is desperate to get out of
this mess, and he wants a readymade solution. The only
solution here is to have patience and wait for the right time.
He will get back everything with interest.
