what is
hysterectomy?
Hysterectomy is the surgical removal
of a woman's uterus. This surgery can
be done through small incisions using
a thin, lighted scope with a camera on
the end (a laparoscope). This is called a
laparoscopic hysterectomy.
what is robotic
hysterectomy?
In robotic-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy,
the surgeon uses a computer to control the
surgical instruments. The computer station is in
the operating room. The surgeon is able to
control the robot's movements steadily and
precisely. This lets him or her get into tiny
spaces more easily and have a better view of
the operation than with conventional
laparoscopic surgery.
