GEC 13 CONTEMPORARY WORLD

SEDICOS, SHANIAH MARJON MAE M.

1. In this picture you will see that there's an elephant and inside the elephant there's a words that
related to our previous topic which is Globalization. Globalization is not first all about money, market, or
competition, but about people and their interconnectedness. As you can see there is a rivalry between
the nine people. Globalization can also be defined as bringing the world together or connecting to the
world through defined systems. This picture related to our previous discussion, because ideology,
economics, environment, culture, politics, and religion they are connected to globalization. Pay close
attention to the picture you will notice that yhe nine people they capturing the content of globalization,
for me the elephant stand for globalization. And you will notice too that the eyes of the elephant in the
picture is like that the elephant is angry because those people capturing what's inside the elephant. I
didn't care much about what's going on with todays issues but I come to realize that the new policies set
internationally and domestically have affected me both in big and small ways. The past few years that
have been both chaotic and uncertain because of the global pandemic. The reign of the our current
president, President Rodrigo Duterte brought a lot of unexpected changes in the society. I realize that
the society had a lot more flaws than what I realized. It takes a lot of more than changes in policies to fix
the system . I realized things we do that poison our socielty like that i had to dwell into societal issues
more rather than just being ignorant of the current situation of my country. The subject makes the
students be interested in the modern world issues especially the youth plays a vital role in being at the
forefront of change for the next generation. Global trends throughout the decades have changed
dynamically. Globalization enabled different countries to communicate well. for example, we can now
exchange goods, ideas, culture and even stay in different country migration to be specific. The
philippines has taken a participative role in different events and organization across the globe. with tha
increasing interdependence among countries, we have become a nation that is open for everyone
whether for trade, tourism, or partnership. However some issues within and outside for the country that
are still beyond the scope of the advantages of globalization and regionalism. this is where we must
accentuate our roles as citizens of the nation. I think bein well-educated is the first thing each one must
do in order to take part in certain issues of the country. everyone must be aware of the current stand of
the nation towards international and domestic issues. one cannot take part in any discussion without
knowledge therefore we must acknowledge the power of just being an informed citizen. At this point I
realized the true essence of the subject, it isn't just there to become an additional load required to take
by a student rather it is some sort of opportunity to be a contributing citizen that is able to share ideas
and comments on the unlawful system present on the society. In our today's era, we just don't need
someone that is educated, we need people that are well-rounded individuals and has the urge to face
the reality of current situation.

As a student, we need to have the capacity to recognize and understand the true nature of our society
and be more critical and objective when it comes to resolving issues. Because I believe that nothing in
this world is more dangerous that sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

2. Globalization - for me globalization refers to integration between people, companies, and
governments. Globalization is the word used to describe the growing interdependence of the world’s
economies, cultures, and populations, brought about by cross-border trade in goods and services,
technology, and flows of investment, people, and information.
