INTRODUCTION ABOUT MY ASSIGNMENT

This assignment is based on statistical software which is

called MINITAB. All the calculations in this assignment
are based on this software. In this assignment we are
given the academic record of students of our batch 2018-
19.And we have to analyze it briefly using descriptive
statistics or different graphs which we have learned in our
class and made a complete report of all these given data.

From the histogram frequency curve of the three sections we conclude that:

Section B:
The data of section B is also left skewed which means the students scored

Section C:
The data of section C is left skewed too, that is the mean<median. From this
graph we conclude that range of this class is from 3.4 to 3.7.the data of section
C is more spread than the other two.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF A,B AND C:

Section B students are good and scored higher cgpa as compared to section A
and C because the histogram frequency curve of section B has longer tail on
the left side that mean the measure of

From the data of subjects of gps we obtain this bar graph from this graph we
see that section b and c scored good marks in APPLIED PHYSICS where as
section A scored good marks in calculus. In Pakistan studies all three sections
scored lowest marks. In English and engineering drawing students of section
A B and C obtained same marks mostly.

ACADEMIC ANALYSIS OF MY DATA

 Using the data of my academic record applying the statistical
operations using Minitab software and analyze my academic
record.

 z-score
Z-score use to measure how many standard deviations and observation
is above and below the mean.
So, firstly I calculate my score in the whole batch and secondly in my
class, section A.
24
Z-score = x-μ /σ

Z-score in the batch:

Total mean of cgpa of the batch (μ) = 3.1008
Total standard deviation of cgpa of the batch (σ) = 0.4618
My cgpa (x) = 3.396
Z-score = 3.396-3.1008/0.4618
= 0.6392
Interpretation:
Hence, my z-score is positive i.e., 0.6392 means that the mean and
standard deviation of my cgpa is above the mean.I scored good GPA in
the batch.

Z-score in female students of the batch:

Total mean of cgpa of female of the batch (μ) = 3.177
Total standard deviation of females cgpa of the batch (σ) = 0.303
My cgpa (x) = 3.396
Z-score = 3.396-3.177/0.303
= 0.722

Interpretation:
Among the females of the batch my cgpa is above the mean and
standard deviation of the given data , the z-score is positive and my cgpa
is good among all.

Z-score in my class:
Mean of cgpa of the class (μ) = 2.988
Standard deviation of cgpa of the class (σ) = 0.5138
My cgpa (x) = 3.396
Z-score = 3.396-2.9882/0.5138
= 0.7936

Interpretation:

25
Z-score my cgpa in my class is 0.7936, i.e. above the mean and
standard deviation of the class. I scored good cgpa in my class as in the
whole batch.

My z-score in other subjects is also good and all are positive which
means my gp is above the value of mean and standard deviation.

subject spring semester GPs

Computer application eng. 10.2
thermo 13.6
Eng.draw 12.0
English 6.8
Applied physics 12.0

1. Computer application engineering:

My GP (x) = 10.2
Mean (μ) = 10.209
Standard deviation (σ) =2.506
Z-score = 10.2-10.29/2.506
= -0.0359

2. Thermo:

28
My GP (x) = 13.6
Mean (μ) = 10.514
Standard deviation (σ) = 3.950
Z-score = 13.6-10.514/3.950
= 0.7812

3. Engineering Drawing:

My GP (x) = 12
Mean (μ) = 9.023
Standard deviation (σ) = 2.511
Z-score = 12-9.023/2.511
= 1.185

4. English:

My GP (x) =6.8
Mean (μ) = 6.269
Standard deviation (σ) = 1.592
Z-score = 6.8-6.269/1.592
= 0.333

5. Applied Physics:

My GP (x) =12
Mean (μ) = 11.200
Standard deviation (σ) = 3.528
Z-score = 12-11.200/3.528
= 0.226

Interpretation

29
From the z-score of spring semester subjects we conclude that I scored
good marks in engineering drawing as the z-score is maximum in
engineering drawing.
All the values of z-score is positive except computer application
engineering , which is negative one that means , the marks scored by me
in this subjects is below the mean and standard deviation of the class.

CONCLUSION:
I made this assignment using all the possible tools of Minitab
software which we have learned in our class. I analyze the data in
many different ways and show the result of every outcome. While
making this report I came to know that this software is very helpful
in calculating large amount of data with a less error chance.
From all these analysis of data record of batch 2018-19 we conclude
that overall section B students scored good CGPA but the highest
CGPA is contained by a section C student.
In female of the batch analysis we conclude that the section C girls
obtained good result among all.
In Section A females students are better than male students.
In Section A data analysis we conclude that over class report is good
because all the data of cgpa is left skewed. Section A scored good
result in spring semester as compare to fall semester. In 4 credit
hour course students obtained good marks in thermofluids. In 3
credit hour course student obtained good marks in computer
application engineering. In compulsory courses student obtained
good marks in English. on comparing 4 credit hour , 3 credit hour

30
and compulsory courses we conclude that this class has scored good
result in 4 credit hour courses.
By the female data analysis of this section we conclude that
Nashmiya has the highest cgpa among the female students. In
compulsory subjects they scored good marks in English and in 3
credit hour courses they scored good results in computer
application engineering.
By the analysis of my academic record we conclude that I am good in
mostly all subjects, my z-score is positive in all subjects except
computer application engineering. I scored good result in spring
semester as compare to fall semester.
It is a brief analysis of the academic record of industrial and
manufacturing department students of batch 2018-19.i hope this
report gives you a detailed analysis of academic record of the
students.
