Remove/install
1 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift AR00.60-P-0100CW
2 Remove left or right rear wheel
AP40.10-P-4050AK
3 Remove left or right rear wheel well liner AR88.10-P-1400NKB
4 Unclip and remove cover (17) Installation: Check for correct seating of
the cover (17).
5 Support spring control arm (1) with Transmission platform gotis://A_25/35/49_02.0
transmission jack and transmission plate
Transmission jack gotis://H_00.10_01.0
6 Unscrew nut of shock absorber (2) from Nut, shock absorber to spring control *BA32.25-P-1003-03J
spring control arm (1) and remove bolt (3) arm
7 Lower transmission jack and transmission
plate and remove from vehicle
8 Lower vehicle Only lower the vehicle until the trunk is
accessible.
9.1 Open stowage compartment (4a) MODEL 156, 176, 242, 246Left side of
vehicle
9.2 Open stowage compartment (4b) MODEL 176, 242, 246Right side of vehicle
9.3 Remove expansion rivet (7) and loosen left or MODEL 117
right luggage compartment lining in the upper
section and fold downwards (arrow)
9.4 Remove C-pillar paneling MODEL 156Right side of vehicle

10 Detach control unit bracket (5) and place to MODEL 156, 176, 242, 246
one side with CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio)
with CODE 537 (Digital radio)
11 Pull luggage compartment lining on the right MODEL 156
to the side until the nuts (6a or 6b) are Right side of vehicle
accessible
12 Remove nuts (6a or 6b) connecting shock Nut, shock absorber to body *BA32.25-P-1002-03J
absorber (2) to body
13 Push shock absorber (2) together and
remove
Check
14 Check shock absorber (2) AR32.25-P-0121CW

 Dispose of shock absorber (2) properly.
15 Install in the reverse order
