IMPERATIVE verbs: we use this form to tell someone what to do, to give orders,

warnings or instructions. Usamos el modo imperativo para decirle a alguien que hacer,
dar ordenes, hacer advertencias o dar instrucciones.

Form: Affirmative Negative

VERB in the base form DON´T + verb

Ex: Check the pulse! Don´t touch the wounds!

¡Chequea el pulso! ¡No toques las heridas!
Watch out ¡Cuidado! Do not cross! ¡no cruces!
Make sure the person is breathing! Don´t remove burnt clothing!
¡Asegurate de que la persona respire! ¡No le quites la ropa quemada!

Interrogative:

To ask for instructions we can say: para pedir instrucciones podemos decir:

What SHALL / SHOULD I do? ¿que debo / deberia hacer?

Ex: What do I do with the injured person now? ¿que hago con el herido ahora?

What SHOULD I do in case of severe bleeding?¿que debo hacer en caso de hemorragia severa?

Requests Pedidos We can also use the imperative to make a request, adding “please”.
