A Bit About Me

My name is J’Danae Campbell. I was born and raised right here in Las Vegas however

my entire family is from Jamaica and I do love it there whenever I get to visit. I went to high

school at Spring Valley for two years then enrolled in CSNHS where I could get college credits

while finishing up high school. I’m currently in the final semester of my senior year. Woohoo! It

has definitely been a lot of work and the journey has been very stressful. However, I am

extremely grateful and blessed to be able to get a jumpstart on my education. When I’m not

totally consumed with my schoolwork, I love doing anything creative. I enjoy writing, painting,

crocheting, and doing photography. Alternatively, when I just want to unwind and turn my brain

off for a while, I love going for walks, bike rides, or to my local movie theater to watch

whatever’s playing.

Being a teacher is something I’ve always wanted to do. Since I could talk, I’ve been

teaching. I used to play teacher with my friends, my younger cousins, or with really anybody

who would listen. My family will often tease me about how I used to want a million jobs when I

was younger. A fashion designer, an author, a professional dog walker, the list went on.

However, no matter how much the list changed, teacher was always there. Something about

being able to impart knowledge onto others and help them come to understand different concepts

has always fascinated me. Additionally, I’ve been blessed to have grown up around amazing

teachers all throughout my school life and they have been nothing but inspirations to me. From

my 5th grade teacher who made me believe in my abilities as a writer to my 12th grade

environmental science teacher who opened my eyes to so many things, everyone has had a
lasting impact on me. If I could follow in their footsteps and have a lasting impact on even one

other child, I would feel so fulfilled.

Though the profession is already filled with caring, passionate, and ambitious teachers, I

feel like those are some of the skills that I could continue to contribute to the field. Having a

cousin who is very close to me get diagnosed with autism was a great shock to the entire family.

However, this has only been a further motivator for me and my desire to become a teacher. I

want to be the teacher I would want him to have. Everyday he motivates me to be kind,

encouraging, and courageous. By holding onto those traits and staying true to myself, I feel as

though I could become a powerful teacher who has an impact on all her students.
