Classroom Management and Teaching Style

Preparing an environment in which students feel motivated, cherished, and focused is my

intention when considering a plan for the management and discipline of my classroom in my first

year of teaching. An expert with whom I identify most and whose philosophies I will certainly

employ is Barbara Coloroso. Emphasizing the importance of the treatment of students, Barbara

centers her studies on respecting students and treating them with dignity. Personally, I find this

will be incredibly significant to the routine in my classroom, because not only do I want students

to feel that there is a mutual sense of trust between myself and them, but I long to be an example

and role model to them through my actions and words toward others. As a teacher, I have a duty

to guide my students to make proper choices and to study and learn successfully. I have the

power to provide them with the keys that will unlock the door to better understanding how the

world develops and functions; this is a serious responsibility, and students need to feel that they

can make mistakes and have the opportunity to learn from them and take ownership of

them. When a student makes a mistake, together I will work with him or her to consider

consequences and what can be learned from the situation. Coloroso also concentrates on

classifying misbehavior so that teachers can make the appropriate decisions for disciplining

students, because it is vital to recognize whether or not a child was intentional in causing trouble.

Detecting the problem, figuring out and choosing the best solution, making a plan, following

through with the plan, and re-evaluating it are the main steps in approaching the issue. I plan on

using this direct approach, because it works with the student and moves toward the root of the

issue.

Overall, I will strive to make sure I will be a servant-leader and role model to my students,

as an educator. It is crucial to me that I can be a trustworthy figure in the lives on my children

because it is my vocation to shape their minds and prepare them for future decisions,

commitments, and experiences, both positive and negative. When students enter my

classroom, my desire is to be joyful, loving, understanding, and others-minded, putting my

students first in all cases and working through challenges that they face daily. Throughout my

teaching journey, I have much to improve on, but I am enthusiastically waiting for possibilities

that will help me flourish in both my learning and teaching abilities so that I may someday guide

students on the trail toward thriving academically, as well as becoming people of integrity.
