Design Competition

Design a wrap for a boat that will sail

across the Atlantic Ocean
Play me :)
The Brief
Your brief is:
To create the vinyl wrap base design for
an ocean rowing boat which will cross the
Atlantic Ocean solo in December 2022

You should also consider the following:

• Your design should reflect both the campaign's purpose and the
personal history and interests of the rower
• Your design must be pleasing to the eye and might consider factors
such as visual interest for the rower whilst being easily spotted in a
rescue situation but not attractive to predatory marine life

What is a Boat Wrap?
A boat wrap is a way to change the
appearance of a boat without painting it
permanently, like a large sticker. This means
you can temporarily change the colour,
add a name or image, or add sponsorship
easily.

The annual race begins in early

December, with up to 30 teams
participating from around the world.
The race structure brings together an
environment where teams from
across the globe gather in the race
village San Sebastian in La Gomera,
Canary Islands. The atmosphere is
electric as people help each other
prepare for the challenge of the
mighty Atlantic Ocean. All with the
same objective – to take on the
unique experience of crossing an
ocean in a rowing boat.

"Top Tip:
The Essentials… KEEP IT SIMPLE!
• The stern cabin must be in chrome or a colour which will reflect
the sun’s rays in order to reduce temperature inside the cabin
(not black or dark colours, lighter shades or reflective/metallic
colours only)
• Sponsor logos will be placed on top of the design. This means
that a very busy and complicated design might not work
• You must produce work that you are proud of
• The design should be interesting and inspirational as the rower
will be looking at your design for 50+ days!
• The Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge logo must be
incorporated onto the bow cabin as per design guide on the
TWAC website. !

• Design must reflect Mike’s personal interests. Use his website to

research this.
