Entertainment

When you feel like going out you have plenty of opportunities to have fun, but you can also
find some entertaining activities at home. You can spend your leisure time with your family or
with your friends but all of us need some time alone, so there are also some ways to break
away from the outside world.

These days, when people would like to go out, they usually choose the cinema. You can enjoy
the film in a bigger screen, and the sounds effects are also better. But you can get bothered
by other people who talk during the film. You have to sit, don’t get as much comfort as home.
Beside these it’s expensive, watching a film at home costs cheaper, we can say it’s almost
free.
I usually go to the cinema at least once a month with my boyfriend. We check the program on
the internet and then we book our tickets. We usually watch the film trailers. We have to
collect our tickets half an hour before the film starts. After that we can buy popcorn and
drinks, and then we go into the auditorium and sit down. We usually sit in the back row if it’s
possible. The last film I saw at the cinema was the Jicksaw, it’s a horror film.

Another excellent and also cultural activity is going to the theatre. You can see famous
people on the stage and you sit close to them, it’s like you are taking part of the play too.
However, you have to dress up, so it’s not the most comfortable activity. It also costs much.
We need to check what’s on and book a ticket. When we arrive we can leave our coats in the
cloakroom. A short time after, we go into the auditorium and sit down. We have to be quiet
and we mustn’t eat or drink. A play is usually divided into two or three parts. Between these
parts there are intervals, when we can go to the toilet or to the buffet.
Unfortunately, I rarely go to the theatre because it’s far from my village.

Going to exhibitions in my age group isn’t a popular entertainment. In my opinion it’s quite
boring and tiring because we have to stand and walk for hours.
Last time when I was at an exhibition I was with my classmates.

When we are at home, we don’t have to be bored neither. We can listen to music, read books,
surfing on the internet, watching TV and so on.

Listening to music makes us forget about our problems and gives peace of mind. There are a
lot of types of music: classical, rock, pop, disco, jazz, country, and techno, rap and so on.
To me music is my passion; it’s just my way of life. It determines my mood and my emotions.
Whenever I am feeling down I usually listen to soft music than goes with my feelings. Usually
when I am excited I put on something that will really get me in the mood for just getting up
and start moving. My favourite genre of music is classical. I like some songs of Ludovico
Einaudi. I usually listen to it while I’m learning a poem when I prepare for a poetry
competition. I listen to music on my phone or on my computer. As for the instruments, I used
to play the guitar, but I had to give it up because my teacher moved abroad.
Besides listening to music, reading can be a pleasant activity for lots of people.
Unfortunately I don’t like reading too much because I’m a visual type and I prefer watching
films.

When I have some free time, I spend it with my family or with my boyfriend or I play with
my kitty. I usually hang out with my friends too. I spend the half of the day using my phone
on weekdays, but at the weekends, I prefer doing something outside, like having a picnic or
go for a walk. I like watching TV programmes together with my family, especially quiz shows.
I use the internet for doing home works, keep in touch with my friends. Moreover, if I need
help I can find almost everything on the Internet.

As for hobbies, there are a lot of outdoor hobbies like playing ball games for example
badminton, or football. Nature-lovers usually like fishing, hunting etc. But there are a lot of
indoor hobbies too like playing board games, card games, drawing or painting, or doing
crosswords, and cooking can be a great hobby for people who love being in the kitchen . A lot
of people like collecting stamps, antique toys, coins, or napkins.
