- Improve on their technical literacy
- Understand hackers motives and common goals
- Understand that any device or person is an asset to a hacker
- Understand how hackers can take control of their devices and data and maliciously use
them
- Understand how to protect themselves from this threat.

TARGET GROUP: Open to all youth aged from 15 to 25 and all businesses

NEED STATEMENT

GENZIS aims at promoting digital technologies in communities to create better awareness of

the opportunity and risks of technology. As we have previously carried out similar projects,
namely the Internet literacy webinar and the Leveraging my mailbox webinar that followed,
we are confident this more in-depth session will help many youths and/or organizations
understand why they could potentially be the target of a hacker.
Cyber awareness in Cameroonian communities remains very low. Many organizations believe
they are not at risk of any cyber attack since they assume they do not represent a big enough
fish for a hacker to ever mind them.
Thus, we observed general neglect of basic online safety measures both by youth and
organizations. Africa is currently putting everything in place to have a successful fourth industrial
revolution as prescribed by the Africa Union DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION STRATEGY FOR
AFRICA (2020 -2030). As such, it’s crucial for communities and organizations to understand
what risks we face or may already be dealing with right now as we are increasingly connected to
the internet and massively adopting its resources.

This short training will be emphasizing on why we don’t need to be a “huge deal” to be the target
of an attack. We will explore how hackers can use our data and resources to their advantage
and how to protect ourselves.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

During the 50 min session, we will be exploring the following agenda below. Our speaker will be
Maxim Dongmo, Information system Ingenieur, CEO and Founder of GENZIS.
