Abstract

In todays world, cell phones are one of the basic needs in each and every person life, as it is the fastest way of
communication. Battery of a mobile phone is always considered as a major problem for the manufacturers.
People always complain about their phones battery, that they dont have a long battery life. In this paper, we
would like to introduce a new idea with the charging of cell phones wireless with the help of microwaves
over a large scale. Microwaves are the radio waves that are used to communicate through two mobile
phones. Here we use microwaves as a power transmitter to our mobile phones. For this we require a sensor,
a rectenna circuit and a filer in our mobile phone. The microwave is sent with the message by the transmitter
using antenna at frequency 2.24 GHz.

Keywords –Wireless charging,wireless energy transfer.

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Introduction to project topic

Wireless charging uses the concept of Electromagnetic waves or Electromagnetic radiations. Now the
question arises what are electromagnetic waves Electromagnetic radiation (EM radiation or EMR) is a fun-
damental phenomenon of electromagnetism, behaving as waves and also as particles called photons which
travel through space carrying radiant energy. In physics, all EMR is often referred to broadly as light,
whereas in other colloquial uses light is reserved for visible light, which is only a very small section of the
spectrum of EMR. In some intermediate uses, the term light refers also to those parts of the electromag-
netic spectrum that are next to the visible spectrum, such as ultraviolet and infrared light. Electromagnetic
wave two dimensional view The electromagnetic spectrum, in order of increasing frequency and decreas-
ing wavelength, can be divided, for practical engineering purposes, into radio waves, microwaves, infrared
radiation, visible light, ultraviolet radiation, X-ays and gamma rays. Each electromagnetic wave consist of
electric and magnetic fields perpendicular to each other.

1.2 Motivation

People always complain about their phones battery, that they dont have a long battery life.so with the help
of wireless charger people can charge their phones any where any time .

1.3 Aim and Objective

Aim: : The main aim of making this project is to provide wireless charging to charge phones any where
any time.

Objectives:
The main objective is to solve the major problem of charger then people can communicate and use their
phone without problem of battery.

METHODOLOGY

Here as we can see there are two part. One is transmitting part and the other is the Receiving part. At the
transmitting end there is one microwave power source which is actually producing microwaves. Which is
attach to the Coax-Waveguide and here Tuner is the one which match the impedance of the transmitting
antenna and the microwave source. Directional Coupler helps the signal to propagate in a particular
direction. It spread the Microwaves in a space and sent it to the receiver side. Receiver side Impedance
matching circuit receives the microwave signal through Rectena circuit. This circuit is nothing but the
combination of filter circuit and the schottky Diode. Which actually convert our microwave in to the DC
power

MICROWAVE REGION:- Microwaves are the Radio wave which has the wave length range of 1 mm to 1
meter and the frequency is 300MHz to 300GHz. Each and every object on the earth absorb different
amount of microwave energy
SLOTTED WAVEGUIDED ANTENNA:- The slotted waveguide is used in an omni-directional role. It is
the simplest ways to get a real 10dB gain over 360 degrees of beam width.
RECEIVER DESIGN:- The basic addition to the mobile phone is going to be the rectenna. A rectenna is a
rectifying antenna, a special type of antenna that is used to directly convert microwave energy into DC
electricity.
RECTENNA:- A rectifying antenna rectifies received microwaves into DC current. A rectenna comprises
of a mesh of dipoles and diodes for absorbing microwave energy from a transmitter and converting it into

electric power.
SCHOTTKY BARRIER DIODE:- A Schottky barrier diode is formed by connecting a metal with a
semiconductor. When the metal contacts the semiconductor, there will be a layer of potential barrier
(Schottky barrier) formed on the contact surface of them, which shows a characteristic of rectification
SENSOR CIRCUITRY:- The sensor circuitry is a simple circuit, which detects if the mobile phone
receives any message signal.

Wireless Mobile Charging based on Revolution techniques

3.1 ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATION

3.1.1 Advantages:
1.Charging of mobile phone is done wirelessly.
2.We can saving time for charging mobiles .
3.Wastage of power is less
4.Mobile get charged as we make call even during long journey .

3.1.2 Limitation:
1.Wireless transmission of the energy causes some effects to human body, because of its radiation .
2.: Our transmitter and receiver designs are powerful enough to charge the device at a distance, as increase
in distance can cause slower charging.

CONCLUSION

Wireless Mobile Charging evaluates the concept of Electromagnetic waves in radiation that we define in
microwave. In this paper, we successfully demonstrate the use of microwave in the charging of cell phone
with the help of a rectenna and a sensory circuitry. Thus it helps us to carry the cell phone anywhere
without having any worry about its charger. A novel use of the rectenna and a sensor circuitry in a mobile
phone could provide a new dimension in the revelation of mobile phone
