ACTIVITY 2

If I were given a chance to buy everything I want, I would spend it on books,

food, travel opportunities, investments, a small company ideally a café, automobiles,
and the purchasing a house and lot. I feel both ridiculous and delighted about the
prospect of really completing this challenge. Half of my list, such as books, foreign
travel, and food, appears to be overly ordinary. As a result, I mentioned them since
they are part of my list of desires that I wish to fulfill. Thus, knowing that my priorities
as soon as I graduate are part of it thrills me knowing that I could simply obtain them
without having to raise a finger.

Among the things I mentioned, I consider small business to be my favorite.

Small businesses, according to Devra (2019), give chances for entrepreneurs, jobs
for neighbors, and spaces for communities to gather. They're embedded in the
environment in which they flourish, and they return vigor and nourishment. Despite
the fact that owning a small business entails taking more risks than working for a
large, established corporation, the benefits are both quantitative and qualitative,
including widespread wealth and a network of symbiotic ties. Despite the fact that
owning a small business is a long-standing and traditional manner of making a living,
it defies the trend of large corporations combining, gaining economies of scale, and
spreading homogeneity. Cafes are also popular among people of all ages because
they provide a secure and pleasant environment for those who want it, as well as a
place for people to mingle. Furthermore, cafés don't require a lot of capital, which
may help owners make a lot of money (Reasons Why Owning A Coffee Shop Is A
Great Business To Start, 2021).

Nonetheless, if I had to choose one from my list, I'd choose the house. Shelter
is a basic human need that must be fulfilled in the event of natural disasters or
conflict. Security, personal safety, and weather protection are all provided by shelter,
as well as the prevention of infection and disease. People who have proper
accommodation have dignity and can lead regular lives. Shelter is essential for
reducing vulnerability and boosting resilience. Settlements are not only physically
safe, but also socially and economically viable places to live (Shelter and
Settlements, 2019). The Philippines is an island nation surrounded by ocean, making
it vulnerable to environmental challenges and natural calamities. Tropical storms,
earthquakes, tsunamis, flooding, and volcanic eruptions are all common in the
country (Wilson, 2018). To sum it up, shelter is one of the most essential needs that
every family should have; however, it is also one of the most expensive demands,
making it impossible for everyone to get. This argument alone is sufficient to justify
my decision to prioritize it over the rest.
Need is described in economics as something that is required to survive, such
as food, water, and shelter. Want, on the other hand, is what individuals want for and
may or may not be able to acquire (Harrington & Hawks, 2016). The debate between
what you want against what you need may be a difficult one as it can be fraught with
buried desires and repressed rage. One’s thoughts towards this subject may range
from remorse to appreciation, as the adult brain and inner kid battle for dominance.
The adult is grateful for his or her health, housing, and security, but the youngster
wants fun and glittery toys to make up for something that has been lost or never
achieved (Kay, 2017). This explains why most individuals prioritize desires over
necessities; yet, I believe that the solution to prioritizing needs over wants is a battle
within one's own mind.
