“Leadership development is a lifetime journey, not a quick trip”. – JOHN MAXWELL.

Traditional approaches to leadership no longer meet the organizations or individual employee’s

needs.

Nowadays, it is observed that the traditional programs do not equip the executives with required
hard and soft skills required in this dynamic environment.

Presence of Skills such as communication skills, relational skills, and perceptual skills are of utmost
importance in today’s executives.

Traditional learning is therefore, now considered to be too methodical and the development of
complex thinkers are needed.

Companies invest huge amounts for these training programs, but ultimately the end result is not
very satisfactory for both the company as well as the employees.

Lessons learnt in the class during these training programs are often difficult to apply in the ever-
evolving real world.

This is no longer a leadership challenge but a development challenge. The difference between what
good leadership looks like and being able to do so has to me minimized.

In order to make these leadership development programs useful; the companies and the employee’s
goals must align.

In today’s volatile and uncertain work environment, leadership development is of utmost

importance for success.

Leadership development is not limited to only the few in the C-suite.

Individual initiatives by the employees are needed such as adaptability, self-awareness,

collaboration, network thinking, creativity, and communication skills must be enhanced.

Executive education is now more tailored and democratic. It addresses to the companies’
idiosyncrasies.

Executive education can be made better with the help of an approach which involves both modern
as well as traditional approaches of training.

Traditional providers help in honing the cognitive skills and modern approaches such as online
courses, social and interactive platforms help in building effective communication skills and team
working ability.

The concept of ‘personal learning cloud’ comes as a solution in today’s scenario.

PLC is 21st century form of on-the-job learning.
