Activity 3: Six Historical Analysis Skills (AUDIENCE)

As part of the Group 4, we were assigned to discuss and understand the Audience of the
Historical Analysis Skills. According to my way of thinking and understanding, Audiences are the ones
who is originally aimed to view the source.

There are some basic sources that are easy to identify the audience and the author, such as
personal letters for someone. It simply begin with a “Dear *someone*”. However, there are some
sources that only the author/writer themselves could only view their source. Example of these are
diaries, secret recipes, etc.

Basically, the Audience will accord a purpose on the source that was made by the author
Newspapers are for the general public, personal letters are for specific persons, books are for the
general public who are interested in the topic of the book, and academic journals are for students. Every
source has its own purpose. Given the fact that without the audience, the source is ineffectual.
