1-2 Firmware problem #2 (Ver2.00)

Faults:
(4) Ver2.00
To enable those features, please update the firmware of your Fujinon XF lenses into Ver. 2.00
at the same time.
1. Improved performance of auto focus*
*Focusing in challenging lighting conditions, where light is low or bright, will now
be much faster in Auto Focus mode.
*The focusing distance has also been improved, allowing you to get closer to the subject
and capture a great shot without switching to macro mode.
2. Manual Focus improved performance
*The speed of the image coming into focus when turning the focus ring has been vastly improved.
When adjusting the focus ring using the electronic viewfinder or
the LCD panel on the back of the camera it is now much easier to focus,
always displaying the image closer to full aperture with minimum depth of field.
*New addition of 3x magnification for checking focus
The 10x magnifications / focus check feature on the X-Pro1 has been well received and
in this firmware update an additional 3 x option is now available.
It is also now possible to find the optimum focus point whilst viewing the entire screen.
3. Improved writing speed/ processing speed
*Improved writhing speed to memory card
At maximum speed the X-Pro1 can now write to memory card twice as fast as before.
*Improved speed for playback after shooting
Image playback now occurs less than one second after pressing the image playback button.
On some occasions previously, for example when using continuous shooting,
you had to wait until the images had been processed before it was shown on screen.
4. Other additional functions
*New addition of "Auto 6400" to the ISO setting.
*Image-frozen phenomena in short period during AF acquisition is relatively removed.
*Accessing period of SD card which is operated with dedicated PCs/tablets is minimized.
*When EVF or OVF is used, indicator lamp is disabled.
*When shooting dark scenery, such as night scene, brightness of the image is more likely
as you see.
*When camera is set from bright condition into dark condition, image-frozen phenomena
in live view image may be observed. These phenomena are removed.

X-Pro1 Troubleshooting Guide ZM00984-400

20-1 <Reference> Inquiries to Call Center in Japan

Faults:
1. Lens aperture moves at startup.
Q
When turned on, or when switching from playback to live view,
the aperture spring moves 1 to 2 stops.

A
It is specifications.
To decrease AE time at power on, the aperture is fixed in position regardless of the surrounding
brightness, after which it moves to the optimal aperture value due to functioning of continuous AE.
(Aperture position at startup: for 18mm, f/2.5, and for 35mm/60mm, f/2.4)

2. Shutter speed limit with power save mode ON

Q
Is the shutter speed range different between power save mode on and off?

A
Depending on the mode used, the slowest shutter speed varies.
・Aperture priority auto
Since battery consumption increases under long-time exposure conditions,
shutter speed is designed to assume a slowest 1/4 sec when the power save setting is set to on.
When set to off, it sets automatically to a slowest 30 sec according to ISO speed, aperture,
and surrounding brightness.
・Program auto
The range settable with power save mode on and off is same.
A limit of a slowest 1/4 sec is the same as other models so that unintentional long-time
exposure does not occur.
・Shutter speed priority auto
The range settable with power save mode on and off is same. Usable up to 30 sec.
Can be set to “T” if a shutter speed slower than 2 sec is desired.
Setting to “B” fixes speed at 30 sec.

3. Aperture does not change when AF locks.

Q
The aperture value does not change when the aperture ring turns with AF locked.

A
Changing aperture can shift the AF out of position,
with a change of depth-of-field, etc. after AF is locked so that the aperture is designed
not to be changed.

4. Distortion is different between JPEG images and RAW images.

Q
Distortion is different between images taken as JPEGs and images developed from RAWs.

A
When shooting with JPEGs, “distortion adjustment” (especially at both edges of an image)
is applied.
But for RAWs, “distortion adjustment” is not applied because users can later use software
such as Silkypix to make adjustments. As a result, angles of view appears different
between JPEGs and RAWs.
Also, for JPEGs, the level of adjustment differs with the zoom position, and distortion is sometimes
applied more especially at wide-end angle, causing the angle of view to appear more different
in edges of image than at center.

Solution: Respond by offering above description.

20-2 <Reference> Inquiries to Call Center in Japan

5. Striped pattern in images with flaring

Q
Striped pattern appears in images with backlighting effect in which flare occurs.

A
While this normally does not occur due to high-grade signal processing, under demanding shooting
conditions where ghost and flare can occur, a striped pattern rarely does occur
by the effects of the color filter array.

6. Axial chromatic aberration

Q
Striped pattern occurs in images with backlighting effect where flare occurs.

A
Axial chromatic aberration has occurred, with the difference in colors being a result of the amount
that colors are out of focus with front focus (magenta) or rear focus (green).
This phenomenon also occurs with our other cameras as well as other-brand cameras,
which tends to occur near where the aperture is fully open, and can be reduced or avoided
by closing aperture about 2 stops.

Solution: Respond by offering above description.

20-3 <Reference> Inquiries to Call Center in Japan

7. Yellow bands during continuous shooting (flicker)
Q
Yellow bands appear in images with continuous shooting under fluorescent lighting.

A
Fluorescent lights flicker faster than people can see (50 or 60 times per a second).
Particularly when using a fast shutter speed, this flickering has a larger effect,
and images are sometimes captured with a band-shaped pattern.
This phenomenon also occurs with other cameras, and can be reduced or avoided
by lowering the shutter speed to a range of 1/50 sec to 1/100 sec.

8. Oil on shutter blades?

Q
Something like oil appears on blades.

A
It is a pattern when aperture blades are being made and is not abnormal.

9. Turn off the camera and turn on again.

Q
Error sometimes occurs with “Turn off the camera and turn on again” appearing
when outfitted with the camera case and shooting with an XF18mm lens.

A
The camera is held vertically with the camera case still attached and
the camera case contacts the lens.
Can be avoided by changing the way the camera is held.

Interference

Solution: Respond by offering above description.
