17. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Our Milk processing unit is a revolutionary idea where there is a gap in the market of quality
product.
Our focus will be on the quality of the project and hence we named it “Satyodughacaru”.
We would like to differentiate our product in terms of quality of product and try to reach the
customer at their door steps. Our business model will be highly supply chain oriented. The
USP of our business is timely and quality business management.
We would try to keep our cash cycle as small as possible. Payments to the stakeholders will
be given directly to in bank accounts. In terms of marketing we would follow the mantra of
think global and act local. The risk that we perceive in our business is the risk from
unorganised sector and the risk on the quality side. Some challenges that we would face is to
win the confidence of the farmers to give their product to us.
We would be using high technology equipments to run our operations. Manual work will be
at its minimum. We are having the backing many veterans in the processing industry. Some
of them have agreed to partner us and some have agreed to be our mentors. We are expecting
to break even in 2-3 years of span. The rate of growth that we are expecting is around 30% on
a CAGR basis.
We have kept the location of our project at a strategic location from where we can supply to
big markets of north India such as Delhi-NCR , west UP.
Ownership pattern is such that experts of various domains are joining us. There wisdom will
be a great benefit for the organisation

BACKGROUND

India has the highest livestock population in the world with 50% of the buffaloes and 20% of
the world’s cattle population, most of which are Milch cows and Milch buffaloes. India’s
dairy industry is considered as one of the most successful development program after the
post-Independence period. Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra,
Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are some of the prospective milk surplus states
in India.
India has also emerged as the largest milk producing country in the world with present level
of annual milk production estimated as 94.5 million tons. We expect a production level of 135
million tons by the year 2015.
So we can predict that the milk industry has a bright future in the coming decades. Milk
production and processing is generally under cooperative sector in India.
Majority of milk production is under unorganized or government sector. Quality of milk
products in India is a matter of concern. There are many instances that milk or milk products
consumed by people are adulterated or not of optimum quality. This is the trigger for our
venture to start.

5|Page GROUP-7, JIM-NOIDA, 2012-14

Satyodughacaru

OBJECTIVE

 The major objective is to capture the urban market of western UP and Delhi –NCR
within two years of operation.
 To develop a fully automated milk processing plant at least three locations in northern
India.
 To develop better living conditions for the stakeholders (especially landless farmers)
 In later stages of growth and development we will try to focus more on export of the
products.

A short term goal is to develop market for our product in nearby areas of the facility.

Long term goals-

 To develop a permanent customer base in whole of north India.
 In long term horizon our company wants to get listed on Indian bourse and later
foreign exchanges are also an option.

VISION

To make our company one of the biggest players in India and to work for the empowerment
of the stakeholders

MISSION

“To provide quality products at affordable price at the right time to our customers”

Satyodughacaru

MARKET ANALYSIS

India ranks first in milk production with approximate 115 million tons of production. As the
population of India is rising constantly, demand of milk will definitely going rise. As the
economic development of the country is going on in coming future the demand for high
protein diet will increase and a result the demand of milk will automatically increase.
The milk production India accounts for 13% of the world’s production and 57% of the total
Asia production. The rural households consumes about 50% of the production remaining
50%is consumed by the urban market and exported.
Of the share sold in domestic market around 50 % is sold in fluid from .35 % is consumed in
the form of traditional products such as cheese, yogurt and milk based sweets. Remaining
15% is consumed in the form of ghee, milk powder and other products such as baby foods,
ice creams etc.
Most dairy products are consumed in fresh form and very less is processed for value addition.
So the market is huge and immense for the new players. As milk is perishable item with a
very less shelf life processing can help it to last longer.
The market in India especially in north India is dominated by few big players and they are not
able to solve the customer pain of providing best milk quality at a proper price.

Satyodughacaru

DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION

Milk will be procured by farmers from the villages and processed in the nearby milk
processing plants consisting of bulk milk cooler.

1. Collection vans will leave for milk collection in the morning. Collection depot in each
village will be fixed.
2. As the collection van will reach the collection point the quality of each farmers milk
will be checked (i.e. fat component and SNF component).
3. Once the quality is checked the quantity will be checked .both the data will be fed in
the PDA’s given to the workers.
4. These PDA will be connected to a central server were a data base of all the
participating farmers is available.
5. As soon the workers will feed the data central server will let us know which farmer is
contributing how much.
6. As mobile phones are very common now in village as well an immediate confirmation
of the milk receiving will be sent to the farmer.
7. The central command will know how much quantity to sell and how much to pay to
the farmer in the next 10 days.
8. As milk is a perishable item it has only 3 hours to reach the processing unit.

So a collection design will be designed in such a way that the milk van reaches the processing
unit before 2 hours 30 minutes.

9. In the collection centre there will be a weighing machine at the entry and at the exit to
weight the milk.
10. The milk vans will have GPS installed in them to check any kind of leakages in the
system.
11. The milk will be processed in the cooling chambers and pasteurization chambers, now
the processed milk is ready to reach the market.
12. The milk will be loaded in air cooled tankers and it will be sealed with an encrypted
number.

8|Page GROUP-7, JIM-NOIDA, 2012-14

Satyodughacaru

13. Now the milk tanker will leave for various customers.
Some of the milk needs to be packed in plastic bags or paper bags for retail customers that
process we are planning to implement after some time.

Some part of the milk will be used for further value addition such as to make cheese, yogurt
and powder. These value added products have a ready market in India as well as overseas.

MARKETING PLAN

STP
In the initial stages our products will be more focused on B2B segment. This is so because
initially we would face a high competition and trust problem from the market as well as the
customers.

MARKETING MIX
Considering the 4P’s in marketing we would price our product slightly below the market
trend in order to capture the market share.
 Place of marketing would be initially west up and delhi-NCR.in later stages we would
expand to other north Indian states.
 Products that we would be offering are processed milk, milk powder, cheese.
 Promotion we would try to develop a direct marketing plan were dealers would have
direct contact with the company in the initial stages. We would promote our product
by advertising in local news paper and cable TV. Some kind of advertising will be
done in local markets. Hoarding and pamphlets will be used.

Our strength will be our quality product. We would be focusing heavily on the process and
try to be super efficient in terms of hygiene and cleanliness. We would deploy automated
machines were there will be no use of manual work.
Our weakness is that we see in our project that there is competition from local unorganized
players. We will face challenges in explaining the suppliers that we are serious in our project.
Our market strategy would be more focused on BTL strategy. We would like to create long
term growth of our project.

Satyodughacaru

FINANCIAL PLANNING

Government Funding Agency -- We are planning to get our project financed from
NABARD and other banks. Total amount that we are looking to finance is around 3 crores.
Promoters will initially put in around 2 crores. After 1 year of operations we would be
eligible for loan from NABARD. Project will have highly automated machines of bulk milk
cooling, air cooled transport system, automated collection system.
Packaging systems--cost of these systems will be around 2 crore later in the year we are
planning to install a 15000 liters automatic sterilization plant in our project.
For operating expenses we would be requiring approximately 1 crore.
Cash cycle for the business will be around 8-10 days.
Milk suppliers will be given money directly in their bank accounts (if they don’t have bank
accounts we will help them opening it). We are planning to motivate the stakeholders to save
money for their future well being. Concept of post office schemes, bank recurring accounts,
fixed accounts, mutual funds would be explained to them).
We would need some money to get the cattle insured, insurance premium would be charged
from the stakeholders in small proportions and that would be deducted from their weekly
payments.
Competitors
Some expenditure would also be done to develop and market the product we would be
pitching our product initially to big FMCG players such as Britannia, ITC, Kwality foods,
Paras foods.
We are expecting to spend around 25-35 lakh in advertising and dealer development.
In the initial phases we would follow the path of slow growth and try to consolidate our
position in the market.
We are expecting to break even in 2-3 years time frame. This figure is very conservative in
nature.
The growth that we are expecting is 30%. This growth is expected to continue for many years
to come.

ORGANIZATION

The company in named as “Satyadughacaru” which means fresh milk food. The logo of the
company is shown below which signifies quality and purity.

The plant will be established near Shikhobad, district Firozabad and the reason for
establishing the project there is that well connectivity to road and railways. From the plant we
will take hardly 40 min to reach Agra and around 3 hours to reach Delhi. We can easily target
the Delhi market from that strategic position. We would be linking us to various national and
international NGO’s who are working for social cause to project our venture this will help us
to get recognition and international venture funding.
The organizational culture would be a flatter one .the employees will be given a free hand to
tackle day to day issues in the organization.

Satyodughacaru

CRITICAL RISK

 Biggest risk that is attached with the project is timely marketing of the product.
Production is not a problem in this industry but the problem comes when the products
are sold in the market. As milk products are perishable in nature they must be
processed immediately and also there shelf life is low so they have to be sold quickly
in the market
 Another critical risk can be the competition that we will face from several organized
players.
In spite of this, milk business is less risky because milk is a product that is used by majority
of public and the demand is increasing day by day. Some other risks that can come our way
are getting license and approval from the authorities as that is very tough in India.

15 | P a g e GROUP-7, JIM-NOIDA, 2012-14

Satyodughacaru

CONCLUSION

We can conclude that milk industry has a bright future in coming time. Milk industry has a
potential that is yet to be unlocked. The only challenge before the entrepreneurs is that to
check out the gaps in the business and try to fill on those gaps and relieve customer pain.
In this business if we follow a patience and prudence path success will come our way very
easily.

 Parallel Processing (Hyperquick-sort) (Fall 2009): the main idea of this project was to
implement a parallelized version of quick sort i.e. Hyperquick-sort on a multi core
environment and conduct a performance evaluation. This parallelization is obtained by using
MPI API functionalities to share the sorting data set among multi processes
 Software Engineering (Online Client Server-Based Game of Battleships) (Winter 2010): This
project involved the development of a “battleship” game using Java. Specifically, this game
was geared toward instilling enthusiasm in high-school students toward a career in
Computer Science and involved developing a graphical user interface such that the users
(high-school students) can directly interact with the game modules running in the back end.
 Semantic Web (Ontology-Based Recommendations for Student Job Search) (Fall 2010): The
Internet is rife with employment opportunities, with thousands of job openings and positions
posted every day. At job banks, in newsgroups and message boards, literally hundreds of
jobs are listed. Thus, the project involved, using of various Semantic Web techniques, an
intelligent ontology based recommendation to help bring job information quicker and more
easily to students.

 Mobile Communications and Wireless Networking (Handoff in Wireless Mesh Networks)

(Fall 2010): There are still many technical challenges in the design of WMN (wireless mesh
networks). One of the most important issues is how to efficiently support mesh client
handoff between different mesh routers, since wireless users in WMN are free to move
anywhere at any time. To address this issue, a mobile agent (MA) based handoff approach
for WMN has been introduced in this project. In this approach, each mesh client has a MA
residing on the attached mesh router. If a mesh client moves to a new location and changes
its mesh router, the mobile agent migrates as well. Particularly, if the mesh client intends to
make a handoff, the client MA will move to the new mesh router beforehand and pre-setup
a new communication channel for the handoff call.
 Artificial Intelligence (Intelligent Agent for the Game of Battleships) (Winter2011): This is a
further modification on my previously designed “game of battleships” with the introduction
of an intelligent agent for the game which made the game “artificially intelligent” by taking
pre-designed intelligent decisions.
UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Selected Research Projects, West Bengal University of Technology 2003-2007
 Electronic Component Fabrication (2004): I worked as a trainee on fabrication of integrated
circuits and amplifiers, involving transistors, capacitors, resistors, and speakers at Mimec
Electronics Pvt. Ltd., Ranchi, India during summer 2004.
 Satellite-Based Tracking System Based on the GPS technology (2005): I had a training stint in
development process of communication channels in the assembly line of colliery settings via
exposure to applied research in switching systems at CMPDI (Central Mine Planning and
Design Institute), an ISO 9001 Company in Ranchi, India, during summer 2005. I also acquired
experience with a satellite-based tracking system based on GPS technology for tracking
potential mining sites and for topographic and geological surveys. Effective deployment of
such technologically advanced systems can facilitate optimization of dumper fleet size,
increase productivity and reduce their run-hours and fuel costs. In this information age,
optimum performance depends on access to accurate information in as short a time as
possible. Both the availability of reliable information as well as a means of conveying it as
efficiently as possible to the different organizational layers is critical for boosting
performance in a company.
 GUI using C++ (2006): I worked as a trainee to develop a C++ program for the graphical
presentation of the prediction of subsidence at a coal mine in the Information Technology
department at CMPDI. Subsidence is an undesirable consequence of underground coal
mining and hence the Government of India has mandated that subsidence prediction reports
be included in all underground coal mining project proposals. My program generates
graphical outputs that can be used in this report and aids in the determination of the
feasibility of a mining project.
 Radio Communication Systems (2007): I analyzed the workings of the radio system in a Radio
communication industry (Akash Vani), Calcutta as a part of my final year summer intern
(2007). There, I acquired a firsthand understanding of the strides made in the
communication and information processing industry in the past few years. I analyzed both
short wave and medium wave transmission in a fully functional transmitting station. My
theoretical know-how on radio transmitter design was whetted by the practical exposure to
the radio transmitter design, the frequency mixing and modulation modes used at the
station, and the amplification of the radio signal. In addition, I interned at the control room,
where the radio programs are channelized to the various transmitting stations and played an
active role in processing and relaying the programs to the downstream stations.
 Moving Display (2007): In this project, I developed a movie display using dot matrix display
(FND). The objective of the project was to display alphanumeric symbols, which can used to
display any message. In inexpensive displays, the messages cannot be changed easily and

have fixed stored data in ROM/EPROM whereas in expensive ones there is the option of
constantly changing the message. Here in my project I accomplished the latter mode with
specifications which included the following:
o Display consisting of alphanumeric characters only.
o Display length of 16 characters.
o Display of dot matrix type.
o The message on the display replaceable as and when required.
o The message to be static if fitting the display length, otherwise the message to roll
over resulting in a moving display.
o Display to be controllable by a computer wherein the computer’s parallel port to be
used to display the code and control signals for the display system.
 A program using C language was developed to take the message required to be displayed
and display it on the dot matrix display, connected to the computer via the parallel port.
