“The Necklace” written by Guy de Maupassant

Technique 1

Somebody: Mathilde Loisel is a French performer. She was one of those beautiful and lovely
young ladies. She had no marriage portion, no aspirations, and no way of being recognized,
understood, loved, and married by a man of money and rank, so she married a small clerk in the
Ministry of Education. Her preferences were simple, as she had never been able to buy anything
else. She toiled incessantly, convinced that she was destined for every delicacy and luxury. Her
house was filthy, and she suffered as a result.

Wanted: She wanted a jewel to suit her dress for an occasion from his husband’s company that
they decided to go. Mathilde's husband couldn't afford to buy jewels for his wife any longer, so he
told her to go see her long-time friend Madame Forestier Jeanne and ask her to lend her some.
Mathilde's acquaintance, as planned, let her borrow a magnificent diamond so they could devote
their full attention to the event.

But: They arrive home late after the party, and she wants to check her looks in the mirror one final
time, only to discover that the necklace she borrowed is missing.

So: As soon as they realized the necklace was missing, her husband went out to look for it. After a
day passes and they still haven't found it, they visit every other jewelry store in the area in search
of another necklace that looks similar to the one they've lost and can return to Madame Forestier.
They found one and needed to buy it for four thousand francs; they bought it with the help of a
loan from a colleague and successfully returned it to the owner. They both work extremely hard for
ten years to pay off their debt from purchasing the necklace, and as a result, they begin to appear
older.

Then: When Mathilde observed Jeanne walking down the street with her son one day, she
decided to stop and talk to her. Her companion was taken aback by how much older Mathilde
seems compared to how young Jeanne is. In this situation, Mathilde explained to Jeanne what had
transpired to the necklace and what she had done about it, but sadly, Jeanne revealed that the
necklace was really a blatant imitation.

First, Mathilde Loisel and her husband were planning to attend an event hosted by her
husband's colleague. Because they were not affluent, Mathilde's husband gave his savings to her
wife to buy a decent garment to persuade her to go. She was still unsatisfied and desired a jewel
to enhance her suit; however, because Mathilde dislikes wearing flowers, her husband allowed her
to meet an old acquaintance who was quite well enough to lend her some. Her companion, as
expected, let her borrow one of her jewels. They also attend the event in full force. Then, after
relishing the party, they return home late. And Mathilde wants to see herself one final chance in
the mirror, with that look on her face when she could see that the borrowed jewel had gone from
her neck. They quickly set out to find the missing necklace, but the day passes and they still
haven't found it. So they set out to search every other shop for the same jewelry in order to return
it to her friend Madame Forestier. They discovered one and needed to purchase it for 4,000
francs; they purchased it with the help of a colleague's credit and successfully returned it to the
owner. Finally, after ten years of hard effort, they were able to repay their obligation to their pals,
and as a result, they grew two times older than they should be. But when Mathilde saw her friend,
she was taken aback by her appearance; as the conversation continued, Mathilde explained to her
friend that she looks like that because she misplaced her necklace and had to labor to replace it
and return it to the owner. Madame Forestier said that the lost necklace was just replicated with a
minimal price.

Activity #2

I have learned that summarizing is important because it teaches students how to extract the
most important concepts from a text. This will also teach children or people with these talents to
ignore irrelevant textual information, and they will be capable of integrating the main concepts from
any theory or conceptual write-up in a meaningful way. As their vocabulary and grammar skills
improve, students will advance in their professions. A summary is required in any lengthy
document or presentation since it assists the reader in comprehending all of the subjects
discussed in the text. It is advantageous to have a summary in academic subjects. In a nutshell,
this is a technique for condensing a long story into a manageable length for sharing.

President Rodrigo Duterte's fifth and penultimate state of the nation address (SONA) on
July 27, the Philippine Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) has repeated its push for
the death sentence for corrupt officials. The death penalty or the capital punishment, is the
execution of a person by the state as a punishment for a crime. It's the cruellest, most inhumane,
most demeaning punishment imaginable, and I don't agree this should be authorized, regardless
of who is charged.

Addressing a community problem would not be solved by creating a new one in this
situation. It would be far more beneficial to remove them through the position and it would be
preferable to put them in prison and let them feel the consequences of their actions than to murder
them.

We desire criminal justice, and executing criminals would never make their misdeeds right.
Instead, we should let them suffer appropriately and understand how their actions damage their
country.

Evaluation-Activity #1

There is something that everyone needs to know in Nattawut Poonpiriya's film "The Bad
Genius." A lesson that will change your mind about something you've done once, twice, or multiple
times in your life as a student and as a person. This will teach us all a lesson that will change our
perspectives on life, money, helping others, and cheating, all of which are obvious throughout the
film. This film, like any other film or story, teaches a lesson.

First of all, it was worth considering that as a viewer there was one character who made me
idolize her, and that was Lynn, the film's primary character. In view of the fact that she committed
a mistake due to her perspective of money by assisting a friend in obtaining it, she learned from
her mistake and did not comply to make the same mistake twice.

Afterward, I observe that the film wishes to convey a very important message to its
audience, namely, how people may change as a result of money. Consider how money inspires
people and empowers them to become greedy and eager for money. An intellectual person with
decent manners can transform and commit wrongdoing in exchange for money because of how
much they rely on and care about money. I completely disagree with this, because the movie also
demonstrates that money isn't everything. It is more valuable to have good ideals and an attitude
than it is to have everything transitory.

Also, this film reminds me of something that happened in my life, specifically, me assisting
a friend with an academic task, with the exception that I did not make any investments in
exchange and was not caught. But, like Lynn in the movie, I stopped doing it because it was
wrong, and I also realized that he had got accustomed to it, and his study habits had reached a
point that he was learning nothing from his lessons, because I'm not only assisting him; I'm also
the one who provides his tasks. This makes me realize that assisting a friend isn't necessarily a
negative thing, but not too much that will tolerate that kind of behavior they have.

Furthermore, even if I had the ability to modify the ending, I would not do so because the
ending is just excellent with its moral, which is how the main character learns from her mistakes
and how it is never too late as long as a person is willing to change and refrains from doing so.
She also goes to the point where she tries to right her mistake, despite the fact that she can’t
change what she have done, it’s still symbolizing her real repentance from her undesirable deeds.

Foremost, I strongly recommend this not only to a friend, but to everyone, including teens
and adults. There is a message in this film that must sink in to their minds because some of their
actions were quite accurate as depicted in the film, and how they rely on temporary things like
money.

To conclude, this suggested film shows us that temporary goods are not worth risking your
dignity for, and it teaches each of its viewers the importance of not being dazzled by money rather
than being content and cherishing what you have. Money runs out, but a good attitude and a
positive outlook on life last a lifetime. Mistakes have the capacity to transform you into someone
greater than you were before, but be the one who learns from others' errors rather than the one
who makes them.
