ABOUT THE WORK

'Tanda ng Pag-ibig’ is an invitation to the congregation to contemplate on God’s saving and merciful love, having
sent the Lord Jesus Christ to suffer for the sins of mankind. With verses loosely lied from the Miserere psalm
(Psalm 51) and the 2nd chapter of the book of Joel, the song paints a penitential mood, calling for cleansing and
repentance, making it most appropriate for the liturgical celebrations of Ash Wednesday and the entire season of
Lent, leading up to the liturgy of the Veneration of the Cross on Good Friday.

Translation
Refrain: e sign of the love of the God of compassion is the Son who was crucified for all to see.
His mercy is everlasting. Cleanse us of our sins. Forgive your people.
Verse 1: Create in me a faithful heart and grant me a new spirit. May your Spirit reign to beckon sinners.
Verse 2: Come and return to our forgiving God. Let us kneel and repent donning ashes and sackcloth.
Verse 3: Cleanse me and wash me of my sins, that I may fully shine.
Forget my evils completely, that I may be filled with joy.
