Fernando Amorsolo's lighted landscapes and historical paintings, in which the

true reflection of the Filipino soul can be seen, made him famous. Here is one of

Fernando Amorsolo’s work. We can see a girl holding a rice husk with a machete in this

painting, which represents the Filipino people for being hardworking and industrious

whatever their gender. It just means that being a woman isn't a barrier to doing men's

work. I have also observed at the painting that a girl is smiling. For me it shows of being

positive in life no matter what or how many challenges comes in our life. I guess she

smiles confidently, demonstrating to others that she is capable of overcoming all of life's

difficulties and problems. Indeed, this painting shows the Filipino people epitomizes the

old proverb, "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going."
