ANALYSIS OF SPECIFIC GRAVITY

OBJECTIVE:

To determine the specific gravity of a given sample

REQUIREMENTS:

 RD Bottle with stopper

 Weighing Balance

PROCEDURE:

 Take the weight of empty RD bottle with stopper.

 Fill the RD bottle with the given sample and wipe any extra liquid on its surface (Make
sure there is no air bubble inside the bottle and stopper’s capillary.
 Again weigh it with liquid filled in it.
 Calculate the specific gravity with the help of the given formula.

CALCULATION:

Specific gravity = (A-B)/V

Where;

A is the weight of empty RD bottle

B is the weight of RD bottle + sample

V is the volume of RD bottle
