Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics II (CL 250-S2, 2022): 2-1-0-6

Information / Instructions for course assessment
1. There will be a number of class tests (announced / unannounced) as part of the
assessment.
2. These assessments may typically follow after each tutorial sheet is posted (on
moodle), which students are expected to solve on their own. Tutorial problems
may be discussed in class; however, they will not be graded.
3. The question papers (QP) would be uploaded on moodle at the commencement of
each test / examination under the week in which assessment is conducted, which
may then be accessed.
4. At the conclusion of the test / exam each student would need to upload her / his
answer-paper (AP) (in pdf) via moodle. Due care needs to be exercised for
preparing and scanning the AP; pagination must be done and their order
maintained in the scanned file for upload. About 5-10 min would be provided for
uploading activity at the end of each assessment.
5. All assessments would be conducted in open notes and other online resources
mode.
6. There will be four breakout rooms during each test with the student and TA
allocation as follows; each student needs to ensure that he or she is present in the
correct breakout room (as in Table 1).
Table 1 Breakout Room Assignment
Room Roll Nos TA
1 150020032-200020022 Kavish Rathod
2 200020024-200020074 Jincy George
3 200020076-200020126 Tanishq Jindal
4 200020128-20D180014 Utkarsh Mandape

7. The tests / exams would be proctored either via suitable platform(s), and the
class would be provided with the link to join the test / examination. The Institute
guidelines need be followed by all students during appearance for all
assessments. The video-mode must be kept on by students throughout a
test/exam, and full view need to be enabled. If felt necessary, a student may
be required to provide a 3600 view of the locale from where he/she is
attempting the test.

8. The answer-papers corresponding to each student group would be graded by the
respective TAs (see table 2 below).

Group Roll Nos TA Email
1 150020032-200020022 Kavish Rathod 17d170019@iitb.ac.in
2 200020024-200020074 Jincy George 213020024@iitb.ac.in
3 200020076-200020126 Tanishq Jindal 170110093@iitb.ac.in
4 200020128-20D180014 Utkarsh Mandape 213020057@iitb.ac.in

9. All student queries on grading would be managed using google forms which will be
floated by the individual TAs, and which may be used by students to indicate their
query regarding grading.
10. The TAs will handle all queries on grading individually for the concerned group,
the schedule for receipt of queries from students and the ensuing interaction (if
needed) will be indicated by the TAs directly to the concerned group.
11. Students with queries may get in touch with the concerned TA on mail directly, if
needed. Attempt will be made to address all queries in a time bound manner so
that all updating occurs in a synchronous manner by all the TAs.
12. The grading pattern that would be adopted for marking all problems in tests /
exams would be: 60% marks for conceptual correctness, 40% for numerical
correctness of the solution.
13. Only if there is a compelling reason, the students may get in touch with the
instructor for settling queries associated with test / exam grades.
14. There will be no re-evaluation for missed tests. For such missed assessments a
student may be accorded an average grade based on the performance in other
tests. But this would be permissible if the concerned student has attempted at
least 80% of the tests. Also, for missed tests students are required to provide a
documented record of the reason for such non-appearance.
15. All assessment marks would be maintained throughout the semester in a
common google spreadsheet, the link for which will be shared with the class.
